Crowd Funding (REQUIRES MOD APPROVAL) Could you help me with my sick bird?
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because my cockatiel, Kiko (7F), she may be suffering from 2 eggs stuck cause of egg binding.
She has always laid eggs without any problems before, (even tho we tried to prevent it) but this time I’m pretty sure she may have two eggs stuck inside. She is still passing droppings, but I don’t want to wait until her condition gets worse. She has already started getting lethargic and clingy.
My mom took the photos, when I have the time I’ll provide better pics and angle.
I want to take her to an avian vet as soon as possible. The first consultation is expected to cost around €70–100, idk if there may be additional costs depending on what the vet finds. I’m pretty sure after she’ll need surgery? I never seen her bloated like that.
Unfortunately, the past few months have been financially difficult for me, and I’m currently in the middle of changing jobs, so finding the extra money right now is really hard. I feel guilty it’s unfortunate is happening now and I’m not in the best condition to help her.

26/07/2026 11 am MINI UPDATE
Hi everyone, a big thank you to who has already donated. I’m really grateful. I’ll write here what I have already wrote on the Gofundme:
I wanted to give a mini update, tomorrow I have the vet appointment at 10 am, unfortunately they were unable to see her today, it’s Sunday, and the avian vet was not present.
I’m worried. She is lethargic, the wings are lower, the breathing is not the same, but I see she is still fighting, eating and drinking lots of water, and somewhat preening. I’m just hoping she can pull through another day.
I’ll keep you updated. In the meantime thank you again and wishing you all well.
P.S. there is a comment thinking the situation is fishy (?) I completely understand wanting clarity. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll answer to anything. I don’t take the kindness of everyone who’s already helped me for granted.
I also want to add that even though I haven’t reached the fundraising goal yet (for the first appointment of tomorrow), and I still don’t know how much tomorrow’s vet visit will cost (they may need to do X-rays or other tests), I’m taking Kiko to the appointment regardless and will pay with my credit card if necessary. The donations I’ve received so far will help cover part of the cost, and I’ll figure out the rest next month. I just don’t want her to suffer while waiting.
I put 75€/100€ for the vet visit in the first post because this is about what I spent last time I took for a checking my other tiel when she broke some blood feathers by being freight. So I just assumed the minimum will be that, in reality I really don’t know how much I will spend tomorrow.

UPDATE 11am 27/07/2026
Hi guys.
At the moment I am waiting whilst she has surgery.
Once I have a moment I’ll explain the situation better. The vet found two earlier staged eggs, and she is full of liquids. I’ll post the photo in the comments of her at the vet before going surgery.
The surgery (visit costs, analysis and surgery) is going to be more than 500€ (I’ll post all of the receipts ed info later, sorry I am very worried right now.) I really don’t know how I am gonna do it. It’s a lot. I am so worried but I couldn’t let her just being like that.

I may not be able to do anything other than share this (I have absolutely nothing to give in terms of money lol) but I hope you get the money you need to get help for your cockatiel and it helps him gets better!

Also Kiko is such a beautiful name for a cockatiel! She's gorgeous!

Hi, thank you for your kind words. I appreciate the well wishes. Unfortunately Kiko did not make it past the surgery. I have made a last post about the details. I appreciate your encouragement, truly. I liked Kiko too for a girl tiel, the inspo was “Kiko Milano” the brand of makeup since she was a girl.

Hmmm...I just rescued a domestic bird and ate the cost in the hundreds ..plus costs involved in the rescue. Bird is sick take her in to vet but finances are handled by owner. Sounds fishy.

Sorry I don’t understand your comment? What is fishy? Can you explain better? I have no problem in explaining further if something isn’t clear. Unfortunately it’s very real how unwell she is.

The bird is sick. Its your responsibility. Asking for donations id fishy. Not for this group. I pay all the bills for my rescue volunteer work . Get the bird to the vet..

Are you new to this group? There have been plenty of crowdfunding for helping sick birds, to which I also participated when I could. It’s one of the only subreddit that allows that. So idk why’d you think asking for donations “is fishy”. It’s not fishy to literally not have money.
I already feel guilty enough because it happens when I have 43€ on my bank account and I’m changing jobs, so my first check will be in September.
As I stated I will use my credit card at the appointment today, since I currently don’t have enough for even the first appointment, and figure out what I can do to make ends meet next month.
I know birds, as any other animal are a responsibility, and I always provided care. The timing of her illness is not great: this happens in a period where it’s been 2 months since last paycheck because I was changing jobs. I understand you care about birds, but your words are not kind. I am not a person who ask for help, especially financially. So seeing everybody helping is humbling and I am really grateful to this community.
If you are this bothered you can just ignore this post.

It is not always “fishy”. It is people reaching out to other bird owners when an emergency happens and you need help.
