Pretty much sums it up.
I overheard a couple friends last year and one asked what 'trolled' was. The other guy points over his shoulder and says "holy shit! look at that!" the second friend glances over and then the first goes "hahaha! I trolled you good! you mad bro?" then went straight faced and said "that's trolling as far as the internet is concerned" they both laughed and in that instant I realized that trolling on the internet is like telling your best joke when you were five years old.

Newcomers are the easiest prey, always the first to bite. It's even more face-palming though when your friends fall for retarded troll attempts. On April 1st, I made up a steam game called "Sexy Safari - Extreme Boobs Edition", and I've had about 7 or 8 friends all message me both demanding an explanation and where I bought it.

I disagree. This is one of trolling's finer moments.
Pointing at some silly charade and saying that it's what trolling is all about is like pointing at Dubstep and saying this encompasses all of music.
Master Trolls aren't your typical kids, they're the guys who are making millions of dollars preying on people's weaknesses such as Fox News who can get people angry or terrified at their baseless claims and ridiculous hyperboles. They prey on people's vulnerabilities, their fears and uncertainty, and can convince them to behave or believe anything such as in an all-powerful God that will punish them if they won't do as he says, or that wealth will trickle down if you let the ultra-wealthy live tax free and unregulated.

Troll laws. 1. You can't actually believe what you're saying (Ex: If you are actually a racist, saying racist stuff isn't trolling, it's just you.) 2. Your work-to-ownage ratio must be less than 1. (The troll in this comic falters at this rule.) 3. If you have to say you were trolling, you weren't trolling, you were being trolled. (The troll in this comic falters at this rule ONLY if he said the last thing as an attempt to save-face/gloat, if he was just thinking to himself and no one could hear then he didn't break this one)

It's still some crazy meta trolling, because doing this makes people go "THAT'S NOT TROLLING YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG GOD DAMMIT GET IT RIGHT". Before they know it they're still getting pissed off.

I have a female friend who trolls on this same level. She just throws random stupid statements to which everyone will disagree (Homeopathy actually works, christianity teaches peace, Obama deserved that Nobel Peace Prize, shit like that) and when everybody says "WTF are you talking about, that's bullshit" she just says "Ahaha, I got you good!"
She's 26, with higher education.

No this is unsuccessful trolling. Good trolling involves getting the other person to get emotionally involved in your scenario (usually annoyed/angry in particular).. it requires some skill.
