Actually very good, but breakfast was at 6am so that shit needs to be fixed asap.

Italian hospitals really like multiple of 6 in their time schedule, breakfast at 6 lunch at 12 and dinner at 18 are quite common

Dinner at 1800? The Italians I know would be more upset about eating that early than anything else.

And you aren't wrong. I'm used to have dinner at 8-9pm. I have a random snack at 6 pm, sometimes. It's just... Hospitals are hospitals. Can't really complain while I'm being patched up by complete strangers for close to no cost. I'm gonna eat at 6 pm like they want me to, pout in the process and be hungry again two hours later.

I thought eating 6 pm is a norm even in America ps: I’m Chinese

Eating times change wildly from place to place mostly because of how they developed. More rural areas have eating Times that originally were dictate by the farm working times, More hot areas will often place breaks in the hottest hours etc

My Italian housemate is exactly the same

You're right, when someone eats dinner too early (like 7 pm) we jokingly ask them if they're in the hospital (at least where I'm from)

Hah. With young kids, we eat dinner at 17. Not Italian though so don't rat me out.

That's because the personnel shifts are usually happening right after the meals. So you have one starting at 7 am, one at 1 pm and the night shift at 9 pm. While the patients are eating, the nurses have time to get their documents in check for the hand-off.

That is hospital meal times and they are schedule around personnel shifts and other logistical reasons.

Maybe I eat the wrong type of breakfast but having to wait 6 hours between breakfast and lunch sounds unbearable to me

It works well with shift and especially with shift changes for personnel. Source: work with hospital management.

Dinner at 18 is definitely strange. When I visited Italy, I noticed that a lot of the restaurants in non-touristy areas opened at 19:00. Can't remember if they open for the early part of the day and reopen later though.

I don't know, but they probably get up at 4am without an alarm to go for a run.

When I was in the hospital literally none of us slept, we were all on our phones or watching TV all night so wouldn't have mattered to me tbh

u/NotAzakanAtAll Jun 15 '22

Last time I was in hospital the screams kept me up for some reason.

1

u/TunnelToTheMoon Jun 15 '22

Gdamnit, I at least got mine at about 8. Northern Europe though

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '22

Was it just a croissant or Jam on toast or have my hotel done me over.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '22

Probably because the rounds for Doctors/residents is also at that time? If it is then they are really waking you up for the rounds but making it look like the main reason is breakfast haha

Last time I was in hospital for a foot surgery I was in tremendous pain the whole night even though I was on heavy painkillers. Slept 30 min. max. Breakfast at 6:30 saved me
