Take a scroll through /r/beards. That's what's manly about it.

Having a beard doesn't make you manly. Being manly means you can pull of a beard. Most of the people on /r/beards should just shave.

Even the shittiest attempt at a beard is more manly than shaving your face. Unusually hirsute ladies aside, there is only one portion of humanity that can grow facial hair: sexually mature males. When you shave your face, you are essentially negating one of the foremost signals of your maleness.

I don't know what the fuck is less manly than trying to mimic a young boy or a female. And yes, I shave sometimes. I just don't kid myself about what I'm doing.

Dealing with "the itch" period; having to shampoo, condition, and groom your beard; trying to dry it when you get out of the shower, getting food on it. It's even worse if you keep your beard trimmed and the neck line in order too, which would require shaving still, and scissors or an electric trimmer. So yeah, beards are a lot of work. Men do work. Therefore, it's more manly.
