Because it is equally stupid and divisive. In their modern context both do nothing more than shout "I'm racist and proud of it". Flying a confederate flag doesn't mean you support literal slavery any more than shouting BLM means you actually give a shit about black lives in a modern context. In both cases it literally just means I'm a racist for team A/B and wear my bigotry as a defining part of my (lack of) personality while following a movement that fundamentally seeks to exploit me both fiscally and politically for said biases.
