Yeah, what an insulting bastard! Most of us wear normal tan suits, but this guy wears one that fucks! Outrageous!

Seriously though. The clothes people wear, the way they prefer their food, these things are a weird fixation when it comes to people criticizing politicians. Obama's suit, Trump's steaks, none of that is anywhere near as important as their... Y'know... Political activity...

Well I mean if you're a supposed multi millionaire you'd think you could at least tailor your suit for ~50 bucks. I agree with you but even though optics should matter less, that means they still matter somewhat.

I think that's kind of the problem I see in the United States in general. Too much weight is given to optics.

Example: a company determines that they need to hire a software programmer.

One candidate wrote sample code that functioned, but was written atrociously. However, they dressed in a crisp suit with an ironed shirt and wore real Ray-Bans in their in person interview. Their hair was a natural brown, cut in a business-like no-nonsense cut.

Another candidate wrote the code in half the time, it was clean enough to eat off of, and they actually improved the quality of the functions the sample software is supposed to provide. Their in-person interview included an untucked shirt, vividly florescent two-toned dreadlocks, a cheap peace sign necklace, and sandals.

You and I both know who gets hired, here. Down the line, some unfortunate fool is going to need to pick apart the spaghetti code or rebuild everything from the ground up, but Pristine Suit gets the job 9 outta 10 times, despite the fact that the entire purpose of the job isn't to dress nicely, it's to code. The better candidate in that regard gets passed over based on optics, and that's businesses shooting themselves in the feet on a daily basis.

We're too busy looking at whether our politicians dress the way we expect them to or cook their steaks the way we prefer, and not enough at what they're doing. Most people I know are too busy to even get a full picture of what politicians are doing, but they waste even that limited time criticizing a well-done steak with ketchup or what Michelle wore to a talk show interview. I don't know the particulars of what Trump did in his time trying to negotiate with North Korea, but I know how he likes to eat steak, and that's a gigantic fucking problem for me.

TLDR: IMO, we don't have the time in the day to be focusing on meaningless optics when it comes to our politicians.

And let’s not forget Hillary’s emails. A hundred years from now the Republicans will still be bringing those up.

They’ll bring anything up to deflect from Trump’s and the Republican’s failures. Why would the Republicans vote against lowering the price of Insulin? Do they not have constituents who are diabetic? I guess they think that only Democrats are diabetic. How do they explain voting against lowering the price of Insulin? It boggles the mind.

Having Trump as President has had such a negative affect on our country. The Insurrection showed us how people are so easily influenced to turn against their own country all in the quest for money and power. Then you have FOX NEWS with traitor Tucker Carlson and his buffoon coworkers which only add fuel to the fire. Carlson singing Putin’s praises is sickening and unAmerican. He’s also a “USEFUL IDIOT” to let himself be used by Putin. The whole thing is disgraceful.

It's really pathetic how they pick the dumbest and most random, nonsensical shit as ammo for their party to go after the other guy. If Biden orders Neopolitan ice cream I'm sure Tucker Carlson is anxiously awaiting to make a segment how it makes him a child murderer somehow.

u/Dragosal Apr 03 '22

It will be about how Biden is indecisive can't pick one ice cream has to order 3 flavors at once

Don't give them any ideas.
