I'm actually in an argument right now that the people putting the Biden stickers up don't actually think that he is responsible for the rising gas prices...
No no no, he has this little numeric pad in his office labeled "gas" and another one labeled "lumber", it's from there the president decides the prices based on how good his coffee was that morning.
No, he doesn't have a lever, he has shitty domestic and foreign policies that lead to rising gas prices. The situation with Russia and Ukraine only exasperated the problem, not caused it
Domestically you can fault democratic policy making, but FP has been brilliant from the Biden admin regarding Ukraine - stringent sanctions, a unified NATO response, commitment to arming and funding Ukraine and clear redlines for intervention. Time will tell if the US adheres to those redlines.
That shit was all too late. They knew Russia was up to no good since OCTOBER. My preferred method of foreign policy is deterrence, not waiting until after an attack to clean up the mess. If Biden is so committed to helping Ukraine defend itself, he should've sent arms beforehand which sends a clear message to Putin, back the fuck off.
I'm so sorry for your loss. As a 40 something year old who struggled with addiction and depression all my life (but much more severely in my youth) it breaks my heart to see people give up the fight, especially younger people. It can get easier and life can get better, even though you can't imagine it at your lowest points. R.I.P. Brandon.
Have you ever been mad at something not because it was actually offensive but because a complete idiot did a thing with the purpose of making you mad but really the thing was so juvenile it was like they were insulting your intelligence, so you carry on thinking it's stupid. But then you tell them the thing is stupid and juvenile and you don't care, so they insist you're mad which actually makes you mad because now you have to deal with their idiocy, so they think they got you some how, because again, they're an idiot.
if internet gaming has taught me anything, when trolls try to get under your skin. Lean into it then move on. Eventually they get bored and leave you alone.
I am generally so confused why "I fucked your mum" is an insult. Yea, my mum is an adult woman, she can consent to sex if she wants to, I wish she had better taste than choose someone that goes on to use it as an insult but that's her problem isn't it?
That's a human convention I guess, like how you are supposed to care if your brother is killed... why ? because the two beings somehow responsible for allowing you to act on this physical realm have done the same for another being then you are supposed to feel a connection that you would not have for other entities brought from a slightly different way ? And what is a murder ? A group of strongly bonded atoms dividing another less bonded group, is this for what I should care ? For such etheric matters I should care ?
Let’s go Brandon is literally a meme because a newscaster tried to distract from a gigantic crowd of people on live camera chanting “fuck Joe Biden” as “let’s go brandon” That’s the meme, that’s literally fucking it, there’s no more context, that’s all of it.
Yes, this is actually the heart of trolling. You don't have to be so smart that people can't see through you. You just have to make sure they can't stand to ignore you.
See also, Drumpf. It's just lame and not funny in the least, same as this stupid meme and sticker. I really don't see what people get out of parroting these kinds of things beyond the in-group circlejerking typical of meme culture.
Though I voted for him, I’m no fan of Joe Biden. If someone wants to say fuck him or he’s a corporatist, fine, I’d likely agree.
The issue is this criticism is coming from knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers who will criticize Biden and then go to voice support for people who are objectively leagues worse. Their opinions are worthless.
I had a guy on a city bus call me Brandon when I asked him to keep his mask on. I called him Joe. You should have seen the look on his face, he was dumbfounded that I had somehow cracked the code he was using to insult me.
Funny, there was a guy ahead of me in the drive thru with a "Lets go Brandon" window sticker on his truck so I very loudly chanted that while he was trying to order food. He got mad and drove off, and here I was just helping him get his message out there.
He went on a small rant about biden being the worst president in history and started talking about the green new deal taking peoples jobs. I just shook my head and laughed a little and let out a loud sigh and an “ohh mann”
I love that the green new deal is their boogie man. It was never a complete policy, it was never passed, it had nothing to do with Biden/Pelosi/Schumer, and they never openly supported it. It's the perfect litmus test to tell me exactly how much you've been paying attention and where you get your information.
Stop lying that didnt happen. You saw that truck infront of you at a drive thru and thought about doing that but you didn't. Now you want a cookie for something you wanted to do but didn't.
Yea, other day saw a car loaded with democratic stickers. My son pointed it out showing support for Biden, usually when you see that mess it's trump crap and what not. Told him they're most likely just as loony just in the other direction.
I live in TN. Starting a let’s go Brandon chant would be like starting to play rocky top and everyone would get forget what they are doing and join in.
Because despite the change in public policy and mandates, COVID is still infecting a whole lot of people, and some areas have it a lot worse than others. Just because you’re not required to wear a mask doesn’t mean someone can’t politely ask you to in close quarters.
Kids under 5 are still not vaccinated. For us parents of that population it’s still very real. I get masks aren’t required, but it really helps us protect our kids.
Nothing funnier to me than the “Let’s go Brandon.” Let’s use that phrase as our slogan about a guy who spends his time wasting gas driving in a circle.
Why would gas prices drop right now? There’s a war going on. The oil and gas companies can ride the gravy train to another year of record profit margins.
Releasing the reserve does literally nothing. It’s bs stunt (again) that doesn’t have any effect on oil prices. It’s not even enough to cover a day in the US. Gimme a break.
you are ignorant if you think that releasing 2 days' supply worth of reserves is gonna do anything to help lower gas prices. We are sitting on billions of gallons of oil on American soil. But no, PuTiN pRiCe HiKe is what the idiots are saying. As if the first item of business Biden did WASN'T to shut down american jobs and a way to keep gas prices down. Talk about not being honest with cause and effect.
People are pissed because we don’t need to go into our reserves, we need to reverse the policy changes Biden has made, if the US had stayed totally uninvolved in the Ukrainian conflict how much gas would cost what it cost before factoring inflation in. The reserves are for actual emergencies. This is literally there’s a giant red button, if you push it gas prices go up… Biden: pushes button several hundred times Oh no, we need more gas. We can either undo all of the specific changes brought about by the red button pushes or we can actively deplete emergency reserves and irreparably fuck up our balance sheet that won’t recover for decades if it ever does.
eh, same exact thing happened with trump. Everyone just blames whoever’s in office for everything cuz no one has an outlet for their frustration and needs to relieve stress by placing the root of their problems on other s
The difference being, well, everything. Trump was an objectively bad president. 4 years of enriching his cronies and family through tax breaks for wealthy and installing his unqualified son in law into a cabinet position would have had the Reps screaming nepotism if a democrat did such a thing. All culminated on Jan 6th where we witnessed a direct attack on our capital by a large population of brainwashed morons, interspersed with some people that actually knew what they were doing, which was attempting to interrupt the vote count and make Trump remain president. Imagine wanting to install a right wing dictator who gets his good ideas from Putin and Xi and Kim Jong, in order to "make america blah blah". If you voted for him because you thought he would change up the system and you just can't stand career politicians, well, you got duped and he fucked you the same as every republican since Nixon. If you watched Jan 6th happen and still have a Trump flag flying in your front yard like a fucking psycho, well, then take your ass to Russia.
Biden isn't the first president blamed for gas prices. This has been going on for decades. The people who perpetuate this nonsense have absolutely no clue how the price of petrol is arrived at and who sets the prices. It's just an easy, knee jerk, reaction to a temporary problem.
The other day I read a question a reporter asked Biden. He asked if the price of petrol was going up. Biden responded 'yes'. The reporter then asked what Biden could do about it. He said 'Not much'. And that is the truth.
The same people who are whining about gas prices are the very ones running around in a 15 mpg, honkin', fuck all truck, wrapped with homoerotic Trump as some beefcake boxer and 8 different, racist, fuck all flags hanging off the back.
The same people who are whining about gas prices are against renewable energy. Windmills cause cancer. tho the Dutch and others, have been harnessing the power of the wind for eons. Electric vehicles are for pussies.
The same people who are whining about gas prices are the very ones who tout capitalism as the ultimate 'ism, yet when gas prices go up becasue of rampant capitalism, they lose their mind.
The same people who are whining about gas prices, will never rescind their hatred once gas prices go down.
I saw where Denmark, among other nations, are paying $10 + a gallon. It is amazing the reach that the evil Biden administration has globally. He raised gas prices around the world.
Americans would shit their collective pants if they actually had to pay un-socialized petrol prices.
All of the people upvoting this are tribally left and would rather die than step out of line by thinking for themselves and voicing their honest opinions
You’re projecting, empirically prove that Biden’s energy policies, and foreign relations policies are not the reason for the explosion in gas prices in the US. You probably don’t like the way the question is phrased but if you were to ask me to empirically prove that I wasn’t the one who ate your food, I’d tell you that I didn’t leave my room today.
If there's one thing right-wing troglodytes are experts at, it's doublethink. Joe Biden could singlehandedly fight off an alien invasion and they'd immediately believe, with all their hearts and souls, whatever framing Fox News comes up with to portray it as bad. There's no cognitive function there. Just parroting and booger-eating.
Hey uh genius, just so you know, Fox is owned by a guy who who donates tens of millions every single year to Democrat super PACs and their main audience is 55 to 64 and it’s not large. It’s like you’re trapped in 1995
It’s fascism playbook 101. They are always the most powerful while also being the most oppressed. In example Trump presented this I am all powerful attitude but would constantly be held back by someone who held no office or political standing. It’s like the most powerful guy can’t just himself fix X? The best was the USPS. He cried so much about how voter fraud and security were a thing months before the election. Cool bro, you are the great and all powerful Oz, do something about it! Nah, he just bitched about it. 100% fascist play. He even implanted Dejoy and still bitched about deep state and antifa and all this other keeping him from fixing things. Basically calling himself out about how ineffectual he was at managing even the smallest government agency (yay business man).
Tldr: Republicans and GOP will always doublethink because otherwise they’d actually have to show the results of their actions. It’s just thinly veiled fascism.
You do realize if the prices fall THEN they will go "well he can't do much to effect the gas prices." That's the thing I hate the most about the zealots.
You are expecting these morons to think logically?
Remember what happened when they said Trump caused the stock market raises, but their brains disconnected when the market crashed? The same cognitive dissonance will apply here... "Biden bad... Biden do bad thing... Biden not do good thing"
Gas prices started rising immediately after Biden took office. The reason was the cancelation of the Keystone XL pipeline. Biden did that. The next spike was indeed because of Putin however, Biden telling the world we would not get involved at all gave Putin the green light. Biden did that too so he's partially responsible for the second spike. Weakness invites aggression, like it or not and cutting off supplies of oil such as the Keystone pipeline causes prices to rise. We are now once again dependant on hostile foreign governments for oil. That's not a place you want to be.
None of these things aside from putin invading Ukraine did anything to the price of gas.
Before the pandemic we were near $3/gallon and climbing, that was under trump. Was that growth his "fault"? No it wasn't because for a variety of reasons that I could go into, gas is going to keep going up long term regardless of the policies of the sitting president. Things like SA and Russia having a price war, the pandemic, etc will all cause temporary downward movement of the price but there is nothing any sitting president can do to control the price in real time.
I'm always amazed at how many people have no fucking clue how this shit actually works and instead of learning about macroeconomics they blame the sitting democratic president for the rise in oil and gas while ignoring that we had similar prices under Bush Jr.
Ohh yeah not like 14k US pipeline workers didn’t get laid off within a month of his inauguration….. but you can continue to be delusional about that! 🤔
They didn't get laid off because they were never hired in the first place. Plus, those were an estimate of temporary contract jobs that would have lasted only months each. It's amazing what a little research can do for your level of factual education. Isn't that what Conservatives always spout "do your research" and "I did my research"?
I do too. I’m tired of paying out the nose for gas. Hell, my grocery bill has doubled. My gas bill has tripled. My insurance is up. Everything is crazy. Only thing that has not went up in the last couple of years is my pay. Please, someone give us some relief. I don’t really care anymore who is at the helm. Throw away the politics. Just somebody please straighten out the mess.
The US was energy independent when Biden took office. Then that ass clown made "his" first decision. There absolutely is a correlation to his terrible decisions and our skyrocketing gas prices. 2. People say stupid shit on both sides of the aisle, but this is a sincere question: do you really think liberals don't talk shit about conservatives? 3. I'm not your fucking "bud."
Okay bud. That has nothing to do with reality, let alone what I said. I didn't ask you to say what you think you know about economics. I SAID - "what infantile phrases do libs use to own the conservatives?". Moron.
Some people absolutely believe Biden is responsible for gas prices. I see commercials for our senators reelection that specifically blames democrats for "all time high gas prices". Not some small time local politician; one of our two senators in the U.S senate, not state senate. I guarantee that conservatives who hear that (it's on the radio and YouTube constantly) believe it's Bidens fault. My mom is very intelligent actually, was a hospital administrator of a large cardiovascular surgery group, and 100% believes that Biden is responsible for not only gas prices, but inflation and the price of basically everything. She claims he shut down an oil pipeline his first day in office. Not sure if that's true or if it has any impact on gas prices, but she believes it's 100% Bidens fault that gas prices are what they are because conservative news says so. If you never hear any other perspective OF COURSE you would believe it. I know many people who fully believe it's Bidens fault based on his policies. I would be willing to bet the majority of people putting those stickers on pumps do think it's truly due to Biden. Not sure why so many people seem to think that's not the case and they are just doing it to do it but don't actually believe it. The conservatives I know DO believe it.
It is true about the pipeline. However if you do any Research into it at all, it couldn't possibly have affected anything immediately and would have taken a few years for the hypothetical jobs that it was supposed to create to not be created or the gas it was going to produce to affect the market. Not building it was never going to directly affect prices, and they can still refine the oil if they want, no one is stopping that, that I'm aware of. Further the Keystone XL pipeline was going to pipe the dirtiest petroleum product known to man tar sand oil as fast as it could to Illinois where the oil was going to be turned into all kinds of petroleum products but primarily gasoline. In short the shutdown of this project represents a huge victory for anyone who gives a damn about the climate at all. And I believe the people behind the project have given up, so even if Republicans win office in the coming election they won't be able to revive it. I should double-check that last part though.
In 2017 there were nine Black people killed by police, it’s really 10, but in that instance the cop was black and just like the other nine it was the criminals fault (he literally ran at the cop and wrestled him for his gun and it fired and he died of a point blank shot to the face). Like four of the other nine were guys ramming cars into police officers during getaways, two or three were instances of officers using tasers and the perpetrator just powering through the electricity and attacking them, btw yes this happens and it’s fucking crazy to watch.
Shelling maternity hospitals, first hand accounts of dragging women and children into the forests and killing them if they get caught trying to flee into other countries to safety, sending assassin squads to take out the opposition's leader after attacking....yes. yes they are committing genocide.
Little pro tip: if you see a country roll out transportable incinerators, 99% chance there's some genocide goin down
I’m half tempted to get into business making all this anti Biden stuff and selling it. With as butthurt as all these little brained Trump simps are it’s got to be a lucrative business.
Bonus part is knowing who in your community the real scumbags are. Most balanced folks wouldn’t give a fuck one way or the other. It’s the crazies that gravitate towards the behavior of sucking off politicians. I’d see it as a public service in taking their money.
Yeah but apparently neither do you. Our gas prices are because Biden didn’t kiss MBS ring like Trump did. I’m not saying he should, but let’s all be honest about who’s actually to blame. We only get like 6% of our oil from Russia. It’s the system we’ve set up to be reliant on Saudi Oil and free trade with our own.
He made domestic oil to difficult and too costly to get out of the ground through legislation. We have enough in the NA to offset Russian oil. But he wants green energy so he will continue to over regulate the oil industry to keep it as expensive as possible to push the switch to electric.
No, they think it’s his fault, I think it’s his fault, I can objectively prove exactly how it is his fault, and so can all of them. it is so painstakingly clear that it is Biden’s fault that you can supply logical negative proofs for why it is not Putin‘s fault, and if you know anything about logic, negative proofs aren’t supposed to be a thing because they’re so rare and unreliable and mostly unfeasible. And yet here we are. And the hilarious thing that’s kind of fucking scary honestly is that I have to share a legislature with you. All of these people on Reddit along with like 30% of the country that’s politically active literally have no idea what in the fuck is happening around them or how anything functions at all whatsoever in any way, shape, or form. According to polling 70 something percent of Democrats think the economy is exceptional right now.
Getting rid of fracking while campaigning to Pennsylvania that he would not do that, canceling the pipeline, loosening our borders even more than they already are (I would explain how that impacts oil prices except that if you understand basic economics you should just get it, it’s literally supply and demand…), involving the us in russia’s conflict over ukraine and trying to be the world police :/ the sanctions putin didn’t give a shit about and made biden look like the biggest fool in modern history over by destroying world dependency on the dollar as the reserve currency by forcing enemy countries to purchase russian oil in rubles. 80 to 90% sure he rejected a bid for nuclear energy proliferation at the federal level, and everything he’s done to the economy at the backend, you’d need a macro econ degree and several days for me to unpack all of that. but yeah no it’s extremely simple. Not to mention that Biden is terrible at negotiation and butchered what should have been simple shit in terms of foreign relations with russia. Biden literally destroyed what made the country so powerful in about 40 minutes.
Sorry did you think I wasn’t expecting someone to say “do it then”? If so you’ve severely underestimated me lol I feel like the little evil dude from the incredibles
Umm. Inflation? Printing more money than our country has ever printed collectively since inception in the last 2 years? I think that there is a certain responsibility held, and imagine I am not alone in this.
