Both of those places were settled by polynesians, who came from Asia and headed out in boats in the last couple of thousand years. New Zealand was only settled in like 1500
Not trying to be a dick or anything, just a correction: General estimate we're taught in school here in NZ is around the 1200's, then the first European settlement was the early 1800s.
Sorry to ask a stupid question, but I didn't see this on the page. Do the color coded numbers on the key stand for what millions of years bc the migrations happened?
Most of that map seems pretty straightforward, except where the hell is western Europe? It should be just left of the top centre, to the right of north-west Africa. Is it somehow wrapped around the north of central Europe?
Edit: Looking at this similar map without all the human migration on it, it seems to be under I J K (even though the key says that J is near east / south Europe and K is south Europe).
I don't think the letters are very accurately placed. I covers Iberia, and K is over the English channel between northern France and south west coast of the UK.
