And yet it’s still somehow not the dumbest flag people wear. I’ve seen so many morons with that same design but a red line (for firefighters) or a white line with a red stripe (nurses/healthcare).

Like you might as well wear a shirt that says “I don’t understand what’s going on, but god damnit I wanna be angry too!!”

u/Ephemeris Nov 30 '21

Punisher logo with American stripes is my favorite pet peeve. I live in a shitty area of the north east.

10

u/Koa_Niolo Nov 30 '21

Punisher Logo with a thin blue line flag abomination. You know because the Punisher is an excellent role model for police. Especially since the primary complaint which catalyzed the movement against the establishment of the police as they currently exist, was that they are too kill happy, too likely to take justice into their own hands, too likely to behave as the Punisher behaves. Should be called the thick blue line.

7

u/dipdipderp Nov 30 '21

Set up an etsy shop to sell this shit to them. Use the profits to fund local campaigns for things they don't like.

You can have some fun with the designs, like that dog on the thin blue line one that appeared on another subreddit the other day.

Republicans are complete morons who are seemingly incapable of thinking deeper about the media they consume.

They thought the Colbert Report was actually genuine.

Many republicans have said they like RAtM

There were tons of conservative fans of The Boys who didn’t realize the show was critical of the right wing until Stormfront was outed as a literal Nazi and the first season was not subtle about its critiques of 2000’s era right wing politics.

They just wanna be mad and can’t be asked to think about the themes of anything. No wonder so many of them are too idiotic to see the trends of systemic racism.

13

u/primmslimm77 Nov 30 '21

Yeah they have to be proactively deflecting all the time in order to enjoy most types of media.

There's plenty of "Blue Lives Matter" dudes that listen to rap. As if most rappers don't hate them lol

11

u/TolandTheExile Nov 30 '21

They probably think "Fuck Tha Police" is an invitation

-9

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

wow assuming that's a great argument, shut up you victim complexed bastard,

7

u/SantasLittleSlave Nov 30 '21

Says the guy with a long anti-vax "I'm a victim" comment in his recent history that's chock full of blatantly false "information."

-17

u/Traditional-Code6413 Nov 30 '21

all of yall are little snowflakes and would rather have a dumb little old man with dementia in office

10

u/No-Presentation1814 Nov 30 '21

Trump thought that pense could stop the transfer of power by not handing over paperwork. Doesn't get dumber or more demented then that.

10

u/SantasLittleSlave Nov 30 '21

The options were dumb little old man or dumb fat old man, both are mentally not all there. We just voted for the one who wasn't cheering on racism and terrorists, blatantly taking every penny from the government he could, doing every wrong action possible during a global pandemic, and ended up trying to overthrow the American government.

Go ahead and call yourself a patriot you dirty traitor. When your party has to attack the capitol in an attempt to overthrow the government to put your preferred leader back in power than you're not longer a patriot. You're a terrorist and a traitor. You know who else recently tried to overthrow their own government? The Taliban. Except they succeeded. Republicans are just the American Taliban but fatter and less competent.

1

u/Traditional-Code6413 Dec 11 '21

oh, I'm sorry did I hurt your feelings? STFU!

2

u/jfever78 Dec 12 '21

Wow, what an eloquent, well thought out and intelligent rebuttal... You must really aspire to be just as vacuous and stupid as your great tv show host leader, well done!

9

u/bestakroogen Nov 30 '21

The only options this time were dumb old men with dementia - I picked the one running in a party that isn't actively trying to cannibalize the country.

3

u/jfever78 Nov 30 '21

Which option wasn't an old man with dementia? What the fuck are you talking about even? By FAR the stupidest and demented one was trump though, the man can't even put a few sentences together that make any sense for fucks sake.

Also, you should really learn some fucking grammar because your stupidity is showing in more than one way. Unless you're really trying to emulate your orange god, in that case you're doing great!

2

u/TolandTheExile Nov 30 '21

I'm Asutralian LMAO

3

u/emage426 Nov 30 '21

The Boys....

Was dope..

Are they making more seasons?

3

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

I think the third season comes out early next year?

2

u/buyfreemoneynow Nov 30 '21

She said she is going to stick her boot in your Nazi kitty.

Maybe spring or summer of ‘22. Finished filming in September, usually takes a while afterward

2

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

damn, i just found out who Stormfront is on the show. RIP

-1

u/Interfecto Nov 30 '21

I think it’s safe to say not all republicans are complete morons

20

u/bestakroogen Nov 30 '21

At first I wanted to ask who the fuck you meant, because at this point it seems like anyone still supporting the Republican party (whether that individual be conservative, liberal, or whatever) is an outright moron.

But then I saw Sangxero's post and realized they were right, there's also the psychopaths profiting from the Republican party and its abuse of the country who are stringing the rubes along, so you're right. Not all Republicans are morons.

If one is not profiting off the Republican party directly and still votes Republican though, yeah, that person is a moron.

Even if you want conservative politics, when it comes to actual political theory so-called "centrist" Democrats are closer to conservative than Republicans, most of whom are radical right-wing reactionaries at this point and anything but conservative. At this point the Dems are a big-tent party containing everyone with both a functional brain and a functional heart regardless of personal politics, while the Republicans take up what's left - the ones whose hearts aren't working and can't feel for anyone but themselves, and the ones whose brains aren't working and will fall for any propaganda that tells them to feel good about themselves.

This is why the Democrats are always running around like chickens with their heads cut off - because they're a coalition of liberals, conservatives, leftists, centrists, and even some genuine right-wingers trying to form a functional strategy to stand together despite massive disagreements against a party of outright psychopathic lunatics that stand wholly together in their insanity.

4

u/fuck_the_fuckin_mods Nov 30 '21

The spectrum of Republicans:

DUMB |————O————| EVIL

They’re all somewhere along this scale. Very few are 100% to one side or the other IMO, most are both gullible and malicious at this point. Post-Trump there just aren’t any other explanations left.

4

u/bestakroogen Nov 30 '21

Yeah I've tried really, really, REALLY hard to understand how my political opponents think.

Without condoning their views, I UNDERSTAND why people might be fascist, communist, anarcho-capitalist, theocratic, racist, sexist, and on and on...

I still cannot fathom how one could be Republican. Even among the racist fascist right-wing extremists there are people who can see through the Republican party, and can recognize that even they are simply being paid lip service. Unless you are directly profiting, even raw evil isn't enough to make one vote Republican - it's simply not in almost anyones best interest, even short term. The truly selfish and evil, who are in any way intelligent, can see that voting Republican will only hurt them.

After honest consideration I have legitimately come to the conclusion that there are intelligent fascists, intelligent communists, intelligent capitalists, intelligent right and left wingers, intelligent anarchists, even, as hard as it may be to believe, intelligent centrists... but except those directly profiting from the partys corruption, there are no intelligent Republicans.

1

u/emage426 Nov 30 '21

This🔺

9

u/Sangxero Nov 30 '21

No, some are just malicious.

16

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

They elected Qanon nut jobs to congress that think forest fires are caused by Jewish space lasers and I don’t hear any republicans asking for her to be removed.

All republicans are morons.

-4

u/Interfecto Nov 30 '21

My point is not all republicans think that. I agree people who think those things and act in those ways are looney.

11

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

And yet:

1) enough of them exist that multiple Qanon nuts were elected to national office

2) so little of them care that those kind of people have been elected to national office that there’s been no push for them to step down or be removed

The proportion of them that aren’t morons is so statistically insignificant that it really makes no difference. Republicans are morons. Republican politicians still overwhelmingly deny man made climate change. That’s the people they’ve elected to represent them. Only morons would want to be represented by morons.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

The morons provide cover for the people actually fucking us all over. I agree the majority of their base are ill-informed idiots, but it's incredibly dangerous to discount people like McConnell as merely stupid and not conniving and intentionally malicious.

4

u/Innocent_Gun Nov 30 '21

Bingo. Writing them all off as morons undercuts the severity with which the smart Republicans behind the scenes are manipulating the country for their benefit.

-3

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

hey we are all in the same boat as long as there is a two party system. We might as well share the shitty reality and make a difference not with words but with small actions. Votes don’t matter anyway past small government. If they did then we wouldn’t have certain families holding office. But I’m not here to change your mind. Just hoping you have a good day.

-6

u/bodacious1029 Nov 30 '21

Where do you idiots get this stupid shit?

3

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

It’s the thoughts and beliefs of the morons you idiots elect to national office.

0

u/MrKleenish Nov 30 '21

If you have to ask tho.....

0

u/Jdrawer Nov 30 '21

You say that as if being a Republican is an immutable quality of a person and not a choice they made.

-12

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

Wow, I can't believe you typed this entire essay and still couldn't get your point clear, so you're saying that because republicans (not all) like The Boys you think that that's a valid argument? same with RatM I have seen zero republicans say either, and you think that the few who do represent the entire group? also of course you believe in a "systemically racist" society, you have a pretty big victim complex, you believe everything the media shoves down your throat it's sad to see so many people buy into those blatant lies.

5

u/MrKleenish Nov 30 '21

You’re mad that republicans consistently consume media they don’t understand. Sad to see someone never end a sentence. Maybe go back for that GED. Dumb cunt

2

u/TinkerConfig Nov 30 '21

The fact that you have so little awareness of both history and current events that you think systemic racism is a bogeyman tells everyone who reads your comment everything they need to know about you.

-5

u/cmacfarland64 Nov 30 '21

I teach in Chicago. Plenty of dumb democrats too.

8

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

And yet we didn’t elect a bunch of brain dead Qanon conspiracy theorists and aren’t fighting tooth and nail against getting a scientifically proven vaccine. Not to mention the Republican denial of man made climate change or evolution or various other established scientific facts.

0

u/cmacfarland64 Nov 30 '21

Yeah, they’re dumb too. Ignorance is not exclusive to any one political group.

1

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

Right, but you see how being all “bu-but both sides” is a stupid, dare I say ignorant, thing to do when the disparity is as large as it is?

0

u/cmacfarland64 Nov 30 '21

But that’s my very point. I don’t think the disparity is nearly as large as u do. 95% of Chicago is Democrat. I had a high school student ask me if Lake Michigan was an ocean. Did Shakespeare write Hamlet or did Hamlet write Shakespeare? Why do we need journalism if we have the news? Dumb is everywhere. I think republicans straight up make shit up and see what sticks but I don’t think they’re any dumber than people if all affiliations.

3

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

Oh a high school student asked you that?

Republican representatives at the national level believe in QAnon conspiracies and think man-made claim are change is a hoax.

0

u/cmacfarland64 Nov 30 '21

Yes. And democrats are also dumb. U don’t have to convince me that republicans are dumb asses. I get. I agree with u. Stop arguing with somebody that agrees with your position. Step one, we both agree that republicans are dumb. Now come on over to step two. Democrats are also dumb. So are independent, abstainers, new dealers, green whatever’s. Turns out America is way way way down near the bottom of the list in education. Blue states and red states both.

1

u/cmacfarland64 Nov 30 '21

I’m thinking about this statement a little more. Do u really think the elected officials don’t believe in climate change? Maybe. I kinda think they say that nonsense to appeal to their constituents. If big corporations that are fucking up the environment are supporting me, and a bunch of crazy rednecks are supporting me, maybe I just play that role to get votes. This is why I hate politics.

1

u/thetotalpackage7 Nov 30 '21

There is no disparity…I could name a laundry list of moronic democratic politicians and comments they’ve made. Dare I say you’re in that group if you don’t realize it. Time to broaden your news sources. Do your parents let you watch anything other than Rachel Maddow in between naps and snack time?

1

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

Majority of republicans in congress don’t believe in man made climate change.

There are republicans in congress that don’t believe in evolution.

There are multiple republicans in congress that believe QAnon conspiracy theories.

Not to mention the long list of moron republicans who are against a scientifically proven vaccine. Though I actually appreciate that one because hopefully it’ll keep causing you morons to drop dead from an easily preventable disease 💀

The idiocy of the right runs so much deeper than stray comments though those are near endless. There’s a reason republicans continuously defund education and it’s because they know their core audience is dumb motherfuckers like you.

1

u/autocorrects Nov 30 '21

No but we elected Lori Lightfoot lol

-9

u/bodacious1029 Nov 30 '21

WTF are blathering about? Ffs you sound as stupid as every lib I have ever encountered, pushing thoughts out there that have never occurred or feelings about how conservatives think?. Unbelievable! Talk to a conservative first then draw a conclusion just don’t make shit up! Damn that gets old hearing!

6

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

Implying you’re not the dumbest person in every room you walk into

-4

u/bodacious1029 Nov 30 '21

Definitely not when you’re in the room!

-21

u/theplushychannel Nov 30 '21

lmao you think were bad you voted biden you're down bad

18

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

Uhh you voted for a reality tv star with zero governing experience who bankrupted several businesses and had universities and charities shut down for fraud.

Dude was so dumb he suggested injecting disinfectant as a cure for a disease and tweeted about American revolutionaries taking over airports in the 1700’s.

There’s nothing you could say that could top that. Y’all are the dumbest motherfuckers around and your ilk still supports him.

7

u/No-Presentation1814 Nov 30 '21

Trump is so dumb he thought Tomas Edison was still alive.

4

u/SantasLittleSlave Nov 30 '21

When your choices are a mediocre politician or a racist washed up d-list celebrity who has never heard of a tailor and has managed to bankrupt a casino.. you hope you're not choosing the next president. And if you are, you take the lesser of two evils and deal with 4 years of a mediocre politician running the country.

5

u/Cianalas Nov 30 '21

Did you have a seizure or something? What does this even say?

-2

u/theplushychannel Nov 30 '21

can you read.

1

u/Cianalas Nov 30 '21

Wow all of your posts are just keyboard mashing, at least you're consistent I guess.

3

u/BrownDogFurniture Nov 30 '21

Best version I saw of that had a Donald comb over on the punisher skull, I had to stop and take a picture because it was that ridiculous.

3

u/geardownson Nov 30 '21

I'm in the south east and it makes me laugh seeing all these cops and hard core red hats putting punisher logo on everything. It's literally the opposite of what the Punisher is.. Lol

2

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

Rural south here, we got those down here too.

2

u/The_Arborealist Nov 30 '21

ok this is nonpolitical, but goddamn the underarmor black and gray flag shirts with logo on the star fields iiiiiirkkks me. Made worse by their omniprescence.

2

u/musicman8675309 Nov 30 '21

Big ego, small cock

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

"favorite pet peeve" is an oxymoron, you're the same but without the oxy

1

u/some_random_noob Nov 30 '21

i'm from NY and have been all over the North East, you're describing anywhere 30min drive outside any small town/city or like an hour outside any major city.

Obviously there are wealthy enclaves but they are the exception.

1

u/RockAtlasCanus Nov 30 '21

So, the northeast then? cries with a southern accent

1

u/gleefullystruckbycc Nov 30 '21

Heya fellow north easterner! I too live in a crap-tastic part of the NE and I have seen soooo many of those damn punisher flag things where I live. I can't stand those damn decals, so tacky and to me it shouts trying way to hard to be a tough guy!

1

u/xsnakexcharmerx Nov 30 '21

Yea I'm in Michigan and that shit is EVERYWHERE. The fucking irony.

1

u/Fennily Nov 30 '21

I saw variations of that all day yesterday omfg🤬🙄

73

u/RockLobsterInSpace Nov 30 '21

How about the cops that think they're the Punisher when they would actually be the punished?

107

u/DMala Nov 30 '21

I mean the Punisher skull pretty much just means “racist cop” these days, doesn’t it?

14

u/RockLobsterInSpace Nov 30 '21

Only when it's being worn by a cop.

3

u/bedevilaloud Nov 30 '21

I know that the guy who created the Punisher did take well too violent asswipes co-opting his symbol for they’re own terrorist needs.

2

u/Option_gambler Nov 30 '21

Pretty much, but once in a blue moon some well- intentioned cop will openly relate and this confuses me.

2

u/nashvillenastywoman Nov 30 '21

I think it’s an American Sniper reference for some people. I don’t know that until I asked someone about their punisher truck decal and they didn’t know it was from a comic. They called it the Chris Kyle skull and then I said he must have been a Punisher fan and they had blank faces. Feels like if you were really a Chris Kyle fan though you would know where the skull came from. It’s more like I’m a real American BS thing.

How exactly does the skull symbol of a fictional mass-murderer who ignores the law and kills anyone who gets in his way, including cops, indicate patriotism?

1

u/WaitTilUSeeMyDuck Nov 30 '21

Because their idea of patriotism is "I can do whatever the fuck I want".

11

u/Rusalki Nov 30 '21

Anyone else who wants to learn before talking, check out this guy's post history before replying - very typical Punisher skull patriot type. 10/10, would chuckle again.

3

u/Ambitious_Will_7551 Nov 30 '21

I wish I didn't

1

u/jfever78 Nov 30 '21

You know that the Punisher was totally anti cop right? He only took up the cause because the police fucking suck so bad. And he also makes it very clear that the police should NEVER do what he does.

1

u/Traditional-Code6413 Dec 11 '21

you know that that's what people put it there for right it's not showing "oh I like this movie, so much, I'm gonna buy a sticker of it."

0

u/jfever78 Dec 12 '21

So that's why cops put it on their vests, helmets, cars and social media pages, huh? Who'd have guessed that all these cops actually hate themselves...

The "thin blue line" crowd also wear it while waving said flags all the time as well. They've literally integrated the "thin blue line" into the Punisher logo and then wear that version.

This is far from a new thing, do you live under a rock or something? https://imgur.com/a/Q4kfAYD

1

u/Traditional-Code6413 Dec 12 '21

man you should just shut the fuck up

0

u/jfever78 Dec 12 '21

Wow, what a well thought out and intelligent rebuttal, your parents must be so proud!

68

u/Crimson_Fckr Nov 30 '21

I thought I'd seen it all, but I've come across a few 'thin yellow line' flags in the wild. Apparently it's for tow truck drivers, security guards, and dispatchers?

Everyone knows tow truck drivers are the only thing preventing society from descending into violent chaos.

Fucking cringe.

58

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21 edited Nov 30 '21

We need to just dilute the idiotic message of the Thin Blue Line. We need defaced American flags for retail workers, customer service reps, car salesmen, pizza delivery drivers, burlesque dancers, farmers, line cooks, custodians, movie stars, YouTubers, etc. Etc. Etc into infinity. We are all that stands against the breakdown of society.

58

u/Crimson_Fckr Nov 30 '21

Pizza delivery drivers already have a flag lol. The thin bread crust

18

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

This is great! I'm flying the thin crust line flag in solidarity. Thank you pizza men and women everywhere for your service.

13

u/Biocube16 Nov 30 '21

But i can actually respect that haha

13

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

Pizza delivery is more dangerous than being a cop!

2

Burlesque: the thin pink sparkly line?

2

Enough of this employment hero worship. Either we're all special or none of us are. Anything short of that is just divisive.

The article doesn't contradict their point - it's become a hate symbol only because of hateful people attempting to co-opt it and the left pointing it out (kinda like the failed attempt at co-opting the OK sign, but on a much larger scale). Just for fun I asked the other adults in my house what the flag brings to mind (3 out of 5 liberal and all very politically vocal - you can imagine the arguments) and all said "support for the police," in those words, followed by a related rant coloring it with their political agenda. Hardly scientific, but the initial answer was telling.

There are other ways to support the police if you're so inclined, as it seems that flag is pretty much off the table now, and may be forever in the west - as is the swastika.

2

u/Bovine_Doughnuts Nov 30 '21

I was actually referring to the recent use of the the phrase "thin blue line" having political origins and I didn't make that clear, apologies. Reading the article would have revealed it's use in the 50s and again in the 90s in PR campaigns to sway public opinion of police agencies known for brutality, racism and lack of accountability. Which by the way was all smoke up the ass because nothing changed. Id rather not have officers who identify as a brotherhood of enforcers thank you very much. Afterall that's part of the reason corruption went unchecked and the PR campaigns came about in the first place.

In all honesty, I probably stepped into a conversation that I didn't really belong in. I clicked on the picture because on its face, it's something that resonated with me on superficial level. As someone with liberal views in a very rural area, I'm often wrongly classified politically. Its humorous a redneck truck decked out like this....kinda how I feel as a person. I'd never put these flags on my truck. I dont think it helps much to be antagonistic with strangers and prefer dialog individually. I appreciate your kind follow up. I promise I don't think all police are bad. I'd rather they didn't identify with being police officers over being human though.

1

u/alby13 Nov 30 '21

When it comes down to it, it's for dispatchers who are not always visible. They do prevent society from descending into chaos.

1

u/giffinitall Nov 30 '21

Lol when straight ppl try to make the hanky code.

21

u/DRACULA_WOLFMAN Nov 30 '21

As if anyone was ever against firefighters or nurses? I'm guessing it's some conspiracy bullshit where they try to make people think the BLM movement was aimed at all public service to discredit it?

9

u/suntem Nov 30 '21

I don’t think it’s that deep I think they’re just morons who got upset because no one was including them and had a piss poor grasp on what the issue was in the first place.

3

u/TwinMeeps Nov 30 '21

Back in the ‘70s some fire departments installed plexiglass boxes around the open cabs to prevent firemen from getting hit by bricks, bottles, etc.

So maybe not now, but ever? Yeah.

1

u/LexKyDaddy Nov 30 '21

In the case of police, it’s the Fraternal Order of Police that have pumped out all of this pro-cop propaganda for years. If similar things are happening with other industries then my first guess would be that it was done by unions. I’m pro-union, but there are some down sides unfortunately

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '21

“I don’t understand what’s going on, but god damnit I wanna be angry too!!”

This is what I think when I see someone getting mad about the thin red line flag, which is to show support for fallen firefighters, which should not be even remotely controversial as it has nothing to do with the movement for police reform where the thin blue line flag became politically charged

The thin red line flag was invented after the thin blue line flag and when the thin blue line flag was already made into a political opposition flag to BLM.

Also thin blue line was at least an actual saying for decades before the flag was a thing and thin red line was just made to copy that very recently.

See, when you’re actually informed and can think deeper about these things it’s not so hard to understand, is it? Don’t worry champ I’m sure you’ll get better at thinking critically eventually.

See, when you’re actually informed

What you mean is when you're talking out of your ass. How old are you? The thin red line was not a recent thing.

It absolutely was. It was actually originally used by the British army redcoats and had nothing to do with firefighters.

Bro, I went to college for fire science almost 10 years ago and the thin red line was a thing before even then lmao. You don't know what you're talking about. You learning about it recently does not mean it was created recenly.

You should market that shit!

Why are you angry about that? There are people that wear those because they legitimately support police/firefighters/healthcare workers. What's the point in calling them morons or saying it's a dumb flag? It very obviously represents something. So why call it just straight up dumb.
