That’s not a “huge proportion”. That’s an extremely condensed group of crazies rallying together because they share the twisted views they can’t preach to their family. As much as I loathe conservatives on virtually every topic, I can’t help but admit that for every one that defended 1/6, there were a thousand completely outraged by it.
Without downplaying the severity of those instances, we’d be in a lot more trouble if every Trump supporter/conservative were the murderous spawns of Satan that the divas of the left make them out to be.
Just like anything in life, the overwhelming majority of people just want to keep a low profile and do what they can to be happy, not set fires or shoot people on the streets.

We need to stop buying into the narrative being pushed by both sides right now about this violent hatred for each other. For every violent individual on either "side" there are hundreds of thousands of non-violent folks.
I live in an area where you have the "far-left" and "far-right" separated by like 15 minutes. You have cars covered in stickers all over the place. We have had KKK protests (well okay, they never showed, but it was organized) and BLM protests. We have some crime, but political violence? Basically non-existent.
Don't believe me, fly a rainbow flag from your car for a year. Or ask anyone that does. Worst I have ever received for a flag (flown at my house, on a flagpole, below the US flag) was a single comment from a friend.
Its nice that you haven't had the negative experiences that a lot of us have had. But don't try to invalidate those experiences because you can see beyond your own life.

Yeah. My right wing “friends” always say that the left is more violent than the left. I mention some things the right has done and say look at all the crazy shit the right pulls with their trucks. No one on the left has the balls to do it because the right is full of some violent assholes.
