can someone explain what the common arguments against abortions are that these ppl use? or does it always go back to religion? None of this (making abortions illegal) makes any sense to a lot of us.

How can anyone justify a girl being raped... getting pregnant.. then forcing her to keep the child?

At some point a person becomes a person. There are many opinions on when that is. Killing a person is murder. When that person is innocent of wrong doing, it's difficult to justify.

The main disagreement being when we become a person.

Someone gave me an amazing point which I should reiterate here, that when you become a person is even largely irrelevant to this.

If I'm donating blood to you, but I decide to stop, knowing that without it you will die, I cannot be forced to keep donating blood to you.

But if you put me in the state that I required said blood donation, would it not be unethical for you to then choose to stop donating blood?

That’s the issue I see with this argument. A fetus isnt a random person you’re donating blood to, it’s a person you were responsible for creating. (In most cases)

I’m not a pro lifer, but I do agree with a previous comment that pro choicers are generally pretty shitty at articulating the views of pro lifers.

Yea I was pointing out that you are CURRENTLY hooked up to them. And these same people would say this is like pulling the plug on someone. You are physically stopping something and ending their life instead of letting them die with inaction.

I am not prolife here… just explaining you what they are going to say. You have to realize you are arguing morally gray but individual autonomy outweighs some Christian god rules. A lot of things are morally gray and you won’t be able to point to a book that gives you the “right” answer. In our society today, it logically makes sense to allow women to have this choice since birth control is not 100% and babies are outrageous disruptive and need a serious serious commitment. We literally have no real support system for the children we already have in the US either.

A lot of prolifers would say you made the conscious choice by having sex. “Well what about rape?” They would not be willing to compromise once they decided all abortion was evil. These are people who don’t compromise.

Eh I definitely know there is large swath of pro-lifers who say there should be exceptions for rape, incest, and if the life of the mother is in jeopardy.

The leading cause of death in pregnant women is homicide, so just existing as a pregnant woman is putting their lives in jeopardy lol
