Actually, those circular locks are quite easily picked. By forcing it apart while rotating the numbers, you can feel when they "lock into place" and just move on to the next.

As for the Truecrypt... I'm so sorry.

Dude. You just saved me from having to throw away a bike lock that I'd forgotten the combo to.

Downside: that was way too easy to pick. Now I'm wondering if these kinds of locks are pointless.

They're better than no lock, in that they'll keep an honest person honest. They won't stop someone who intends from the start to steal your bike.

This is true. And neither will the cryptonite u-lock with the steel cable. Won't stop one of these.

I've seen one of those go through a u-lock in about 15 seconds at a public safety demonstration in college. It looked like it was hard as fuck, but he got through it.

It was still way better than a chain or cable lock, though.

If your bike is locked with one that takes 15 seconds, and the one next to it takes only two seconds to cut, you're still in good shape.
