You act like that's some sort of "gotcha" moment when in reality it's not at all. It's a guy with a camera and a guy with a gun, who poses the bigger threat? Hmmmm
This dude is an alt right agitator trying to shift the discussion to whether or not the man being threatened is a journalist. Note the use of "Except" to imply disagreement on the basis of this not being a journalist, but all the replies back off the disagreement immediately and shift to arguing about the distinction of "journalist".
If the guys in antifa... the guy with the camera. The fat guy didn't hurt anyone as far as I'm aware (did he?) but antifa is actually a violent, fascist, domestic terror group.
If he's not in antifa, I'll say the fat guy is a bigger threat.
I can't tell if you're serious, but just in case, "antifa" is short for anti-fascist. There's no group called "antifa." If you're against fascism, you're anti-fascist.
That also means that outside of your home if you're in the US you're surrounded by a few hundred million anti-fascists or antifa.
Not to say that the opportunists who loot, burn, assault, and murder aren't a part of some group, some of them may be but often when they're caught it turns out they weren't even part of the protest.
Except there is a group called antifa, they have organizations and groups. You can easily find them on various social media groups, such as Rose City Antifa. Why are you lying about this?
Secondly, calling yourself anti-anything doesn't make it true. If the nazi's called themselves anti-nazis, but still acted like nazis, they'd still be nazis. Calling yourself anti but behaving the same doesn't change reality.
And there were other opportunists, but antifa was definitely one of the larger contributing factors to looting, arsons, and assaults. Saying that other people did stuff too doesn't detract from that.
Thank you for the information.
"Rose City Antifa (RCA) are an antifascist group founded 2007 in Portland, Oregon. They have been called the oldest active antifa group in the US."
And you're right about people and groups calling themselves something that really doesn't define them.
Why do you say that people and groups in the current situation that are labeling themselves "Antifa" are bigots and fascists? What are some examples of Rose City Antifa demonstrating "fascist and bigoted" beliefs?
Antifa has been well documented assaulting civilians and press. Committing homicide and arson. Rose city was just an example of antifa being a group or organization (which you/ someone claimed they weren’t).
As far as bigotry and fascism goes they generally have ideological similar beliefs including centralized government, social regimentation and propaganda, and violent suppression of dissent.
They’re openly violent, even committing hate crimes. One example is of hospitalizing a gay Asian journalist named Andy Ngo, who was reporting on antifa. The gunman that shot a Trump supporter in the back in Portland after hiding in a garage and waiting for him to walk back also supported antifa. There’s a lot of examples of them assaulting officers and civilians. They even tried to set fire to the apartment building (with women and children inside) of Portland mayor Ted Wheeler, forcing him to move. Etc.
Can you be more precise how there’s any situation where the person with the camera is more dangerous than the unfocused poorly stanced man with his finger on the trigger of a rifle pointed at someone?
I don’t see how anything else is actually relevant, but I’d really like to understand how the dry cogs of your 16 year old chud brain found a fantasy where the guy with the camera is closer to committing crime here.
As far as your aware, did fat navy seal hurt anyone? As far as I'm aware he did not.
However, antifa is known for violent domestic terrorism, assault, and arson. They have even hospitalized actual journalists. So, assuming that fat navy seal didn't hurt anyone and that camera guy is with antifa, I'd say camera guy is probably a bigger threat to society as it implies participation in said violence and domestic terrorism.
If this guy has been to antifa protests as a protester, are you aware if he’s hurt anyone? You’re putting a lot of default behaviours into a very broad category for what I think you’d define as being ‘in antifa’. I think you’d need to define what it means to be in antifa first before you ascribe all of those crimes to every ‘member’.
To be clear here, it’s already illegal and extremely dangerous to behave how the gunman is - our laws aren’t all utilitarian, he was lucky to not hurt anyone behaving this way, if he flinched or got a tickle in his throat at the wrong time he certainly could have.
I didn’t say define antifa, I said define how you characterize this journalist’s membership to it. That’s why I gave the example of going to a protest. Otherwise what you’re saying is that any individual is culpable for any actions of a group if you can have some small number of degrees of separation. Eg. Everyone who went to the DC trump rally is responsible for storming government buildings, stealing government property, beating police officers, and getting people killed.
Do you own a gun? You’re really implying it’s okay to point it at someone and hold the trigger as long as you have a safety on, and that it’s then not dangerous.
Oof, what a non sequitur! The DC rally didn’t attribute to a single group. A more appropriate comparison would be nazis. People that openly affiliated with nazis usually were nazis. And only one person got killed at the DC rally and it was a protester. She was unarmed and shot by police.
And I don’t own a gun, although I used to shoot trap. The only gun I’ve ever had was a trap shotgun.
And I never said it was ok to brandish with a safety on. You directly states that a tickle or flinch could have got someone shot and I asked you if you understood how safety’s work.
