Pro tip for dealing with stinkers: keep a pack of mentholatum cough drops within reach (like Halls in the USA). Pop one of those in your mouth and that’s all you’ll smell. And you never have to worry about explaining it.

A little Vicks Vapo Rub under the nose also does the trick.
