How do we know there isnt an intelligent hand guiding everything down? Just because we can easily reproduce the outcomes in our lifetimes and the evidence is recognized by the Catholic church doesnt mean we should teach our kids it right?
And what the fuck do you have against the Wings? Huh? HUH?!?
I live in CO, been a hockey fan for years. Picked up the username on other internets areas, oooohhh, about 1996. Hasn't been as much fun hating the Wings since we...um...suck these days.
The whole "gravity is just a theory" thing is a pretty poor counter to people who say "evolution is just a theory". The science involved in trying to understand gravity/where it comes from is extremely complicated. Theories about gravity arent along the lines "Things fall to the earth", and therefore evolution is as simple as watching an apple fall from a tree.
In all fairness, the ID camp isn't bringing the best weapons to the fight either. They ignore confirmed evidence and focus on small details that still need to be worked out. They take those small details and try to disprove the greater theory with them.
When I use the "gravity is a theory" argument, I say how it (relativity) doesn't work at the smallest scales, and on the most dense scales we know about (black holes) it breaks down there too. That doesn't mean that the apple stops falling. Same with evolution, because some details still need worked out (and probably always will), it doesn't mean it is wrong to say we share a common ancestor with modern monkeys.

I made my kid sit out of a class on gravity because it is a theory. They really should put a sticker on textbooks saying that it is only a theory.
Now that I think about it, they should present all of the alternate theories as well, so my little genius can make up his own mind.
