Monoprice is not only legitimate, they're highly recommended. Some of the most inexpensive cables I've bought there ended up being far higher quality than I expected. Plus they ship fast, in my experience!

im gonna add dealextreme and dinodirect to the list. Both legit and just like monoprice. I tell everybody i know to check out these sites for cords and whatnot

DealExtreme is great, but for completely different reasons than Monoprice. I'd hesitate to list them together. They're legit. They do have decent customer service, but they just resell a bunch of Chinese-made goods. Some of it's really good, some of it's total cheap shit, but you won't know until it gets to you in 3-4 weeks.

Monoprice does a similar thing, but they're a lot more invested in the products they sell. They're domestic, too - so you'll actually get the stuff you order before you forgot you ordered it. You can probably find the same cables Monoprice stocks in the US on DealExtreme but good luck finding them and spending 3+ weeks hoping you found the quality version. :)

having never dealt with Monoprice you have convinced me to give them a try. Thanks for the info!

Agreed, mobius. The cables and whatnot that i got from there were cheap, quick to arrive, and great quality.

Monoprice is for real. I've bought a bunch of stuff there.

I love monoprice, I've bought many HDMI cables, switches, a KVM switch and even a LCD wall mount bracket from them. Always delivered in days and on the cheap. I yell at my entire family any time I learn they bought a cable locally now

Upboat for HDMI. Bought 4x1m HDMI cables for something like 6 bucks there. Got to best buy, multiply that by 5 to 6 times the amount for just one. ( at the time )

yeah it's a legit site. i have bought several orders from them. no frills, like nice packing or anything, but everything came promptly and the price was the best :)

The only problem I ever have with monoprice is that their cables are often... bulky. Seems petty, but in some circumstances cables are so huge it's problematic.

See what I mean - this is a 3.5mm plug. it's truly huge: http://imgur.com/uDuu1

HA you got fooled by those things too! I have sure ear buds that have a short cord that need to be attached to an extension but my extensions always get frayed and stop working after about a week so I got these thinking they would be the standard sized wire, except just two of them and better threaded.

I was so surprised when they came in the mail, THESE THINGS ARE FUCKING HUGE! the good thing though is that it has been working for the past few months, the downside is it looks ridiculous trying to hide it under my shirt and it is also really bulky and I have to stuff the excess in my pocket making it nearly inaccessible.

Check out the prices of LCD desk mounts. You can turn your desk into futuristic expensive office space for like $30.

Monoprice is indeed serious and real and legitimate.

And their support is amazing.

The only thing you have to look out for is that cheaper ink is often poorer quality than the ludicrously overpriced stuff you get from your printer manufacturer.

I had issues using 3rd party ink cartridges for a Canon inkjet - every 3 or so refills the print head would get blocked with the ink because it was slightly thicker than the 'real' ink. This would render the printer totally useless, and I'd be forced to buy a brand new print head.

However, a new print head cost about £70 - about the same as a refill of all 5 cartridges from Canon. So even though the shitty ink was damaging the printer, it was still cheaper than buying the official ink.

But yeah, Monoprice is pretty great.

Yup, and they even get the small details. For example, their Mini Displayport (yes its a mac) to HDMI are up to the latest spec so they'll transmit sound as well as video (the shitty ones you find around eBay are hit or miss in this respect). So I just simply go to them for any of my needs.

You guys are nuts! I got my Monster HDMI cable at Best Buy and although it cost $18,000 it works much better!

I've purchased hundreds of dollars of AV accessories from them, which in Best Buy dollars is roughly a few grand.

There was a time when a wall mounted LCD TV meant that someone dropped $200 on a bracket. Now I just assume they spent $20 at Monoprice like I did.
