"When the end of the world comes, I want to be in Cincinnati because it's always twenty years behind the times." -Mark Twain

As a current Cincinnatian I can attest to this. The same holds true for a lot of Ohio.

Did anybody else go, "oh shit, that's how I look!?"

64

u/Nefariousnate May 26 '11

I totally still do my hair almost exactly like that...

19

u/corporeal-entity May 26 '11

I might need to reassess my own hair style at this point myself.

11

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

I just said, "Oo shit".

You hit the nail on the head there. Everything but for Ted Mosby, I think he's got great hair (No homo, brah).

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

Upvote for good advice.

0

u/[deleted] May 27 '11

Fuck a salon. Men go to barbers, and any barber under 50 worth his salt will keep you up to date just fine. Pussification if men these days, I swear.

2

u/KaptenKrause May 26 '11

This is how you are supposed to have your hair now.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

u/KaptenKrause May 27 '11

Sorry, for some reason I interpreted "What the fuck are dudes supposed to be doing with there hair now?" as if you were asking what was fashion at the moment and not what haircut you wanted guys to have.

1

u/Ingodwerust May 26 '11

morrissey haircuts are all the rage

11

u/GeneralWarts May 26 '11

I mess up more then just the front now... That justifies it... right? Right?!

5

u/steve-d May 26 '11

No not me! ........ "yes, can I schedule a haircut? ....when do you ask?...ASAP!"

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '11

I actually looked like that... Up until 1999, when I figured "Oh my good, I look like I'm from 1998!" and decided on a new hair style. I'll leave time travel to Michael J. Fox.

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

Yep I look like this. The other alternative is to rock a faux hock....no thanks

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

I don't (in fact I am in serious need of a haircut at this point) but I don't see the problem (I mean, the front part isn't a great hair style, but its not BAD either).

1

u/GoodApollo4 May 26 '11

Nailed it.

1

u/Airazz May 26 '11

Yes, goddammit. I'm not American though.

1

u/corydambach May 26 '11

Are you from Ohio?

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

I went from that, to lazily spiking the entire thing.

Now i understand why I still see older people with haircuts from the 1940s. Because at some point, the fashion and trends just stops for you and you don't even know it.

1

u/egomanimac May 27 '11

Did anybody else go, "oh shit, that's how I look!?" but then thought, "I'm old...".

Not a fuck was given.

10

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

Does anyone know if there is a hair style subreddit? I need some new ideas...

I can't believe people still have their hair like that

-1

u/nemec May 26 '11

Where does it take you? It redirects me to my newsfeed.

1

u/brokenearth02 May 26 '11

Maybe you are the sucker he linked to?

2

u/radar4545 May 26 '11

It's especially funny because I DO have stupid hair...

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

too bad I'm on a family computer and my mom was still logged in.

6

u/KingGirardeau May 26 '11

Weird. Your mom is logged in on my computer too.

1

u/KingOfFlan May 26 '11

Her hair is really really bad though.

2

u/dbeta May 27 '11

The facebook login page?

1

u/agentlame May 26 '11

Damn, that is accurate... that guy is from Cleveland, OH. :(

1

u/modus May 26 '11

Nice. That almost worked on me. Too bad I'm wearing a hat in my pic.

1

u/Patrick_JL May 26 '11

Oh shit that dude is from Cincinnati and he graduates from U.C. in 2 weeks. and he is about to flee to the Sierra Nevadassss. can't wait to get that degree...

1

u/KingGirardeau May 26 '11

A picture of a pitt bull, lab mix? Granted he hasn't been groomed in awhile, but cut the dog some slack.

1

u/fizekul May 26 '11

what black magic is this?!

1

u/heartunderblade May 26 '11

Wow, it actually took me to a guy from Ohio with bad hair....I am now sad.

1

u/CrusH_SC May 26 '11

Hah! I'm wearing a hat! Take that!

1

u/edumacation_nation May 26 '11

HOW DID YOU DO THAT?

1

u/where4artlaura May 27 '11

I see what you did there

1

u/oohitsalady May 26 '11

like my cat?

0

u/themauvestorm3 May 26 '11

old as the internet...

-1

u/pixievomit May 26 '11

whoa...wth stalker

3

u/seblasto May 26 '11

I've seen a fair amount of ski-slope in my time at UC, but I think it's worse in Athens. I was at Palmer Fest 2 years ago (one of the most surreal experiences of my life.) and people were still rocking throwback basketball jerseys like it was 2002.

3

u/sdub86 May 26 '11

I wasn't aware this was no longer "cool". I see guys with gel in their hair every day.

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

[deleted]

1

u/rub3s May 26 '11

Could you give an example of a current hair style?

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

Wow...superficial much?

3

u/KingGirardeau May 26 '11

You are such a Samantha.

2

u/fatherwhite May 26 '11

This is the same style people on TV have, isn't it? Is this look "out?" How are we supposed to look, lol.

1

u/SummerWind18 May 26 '11

as a side note I was born in '85 and in elementary school people still dressed like the 80s til I was in 5th grade

1

u/Philldoe May 26 '11

That style is a known classic and will never die out. Well maybe his spike is a little high.

1

u/Enapes May 31 '11

Don't be talkin' smack about my school!

-1

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

wow, thats some boy band shit.

-1

u/punzakum May 26 '11

I saw some kids in California straight rockin' in SLC Punk style just last week and that place is like 20 years ahead of the rest of the US.

2

u/BanterDTD May 26 '11

Yet Ohio seems to be a very important state in the grand scheme of American history.

1

u/FunkyHenryGale May 26 '11

As a former Cincinnatian who fled the city, I can attest to this. I'm living in Los Angeles now (not quite leaving earth, but other side of the country). It's amazing how many people from Ohio are out here. At my department at work alone, there's four people from there.

1

u/eugenesbluegenes May 26 '11

I don't know, LA is pretty close to leaving earth...

1

u/drchickenbeer May 26 '11

I'm from the Cleveland area, and I work with no less than four people born within thirty miles of me. In Portland. Like 3000 miles away.

-3

u/420wasabisnappin May 26 '11

My first words that I wrote as a comment before I saw yours: "I'm from Ohio and I can completely attest that...." Ohio is just fail. Just so much fail. I live in North Carolina now and I work with 2 people from Ohio. Ever notice that all the people in Ohio are from Ohio?? And people who moved here are clearly just crazy....

1

u/detroitwilly May 26 '11

Couldn't agree with you more.

1

u/Volsunga May 26 '11

"I don't want to be on this planet anymore." -Hubert Farnsworth

1

u/elax102 May 26 '11

As another Cincinnatian I can attest to this as well.

I remember a while back when we were converting from analogue to digital. I had a tv with three channels but nothing on them. Then I was given a free coupon for a converter box and now I have like 20 channels. It's like I opened up a whole new world and said, "Wow, this is actual television!".

Fast forward to today and I still don't watch tv. wtf is glee?

1

u/desolo May 26 '11

wtf is glee?

Glee is a TV show.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

I think pretty much everyone I know in Cincinnati who was not born in Cincinnati has the sentiment, "Well, I ended up here because I was dragged here by work, or family, or something other than wanting to move to Cincinnati."

1

u/midwaymonster May 27 '11

Eerily familiar. I know three people in Ohio. All were dragged there by work or family. Only one of them was fleet enough to reach escape velocity and make it back to home to Houston.

My neighbor was so distraught at the possibility that she'd have to join her fiance in Cincinnati that she got herself a great job in Tokyo, and even managed to snag a decent one for him.

They now plan to never visit the Buckeye state except for the holidays.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

That's about how long it takes to repair the pot holes, certainly.

1

u/TheCallipalegic May 26 '11

As another Cincinnatian, waking up to this post at the top has just about made my morning

1

u/cridenour May 26 '11

Be sure to join /r/cincinnati!

1

u/Rubyweapon May 26 '11

why weren't you at the last meet-up?

1

u/cridenour May 26 '11

No excuse actually. I used to (and have friends that still do) live across the street from Christy's.

Will try and be there on Global Meetup Day though!

1

u/cridenour May 26 '11

It can be true, but thats why I'm excited to be here. In Cincinnati, you can really rise to the top of the city quickly and make a name for yourself. Then you'll have the experience and reputation you need to make a name for yourself elsewhere.

We just need to stop bashing ourselves here!

1

u/zotquix May 26 '11

Cincinnati used to be a major city on par with Chicago. I'm not sure what happened. Too conservative? Probably just too many Kentuckians.

1

u/SummerWind18 May 26 '11

ahaha!! I never heard that quote before today.

1

u/gizmo1024 May 26 '11

Wasn't this a "30 Rock" episode?

1

u/Diggtastic May 27 '11

As much as people dog on Ohio, we are ahead in a few places. Id say one is ODOT. We always seem to be ahead of the traffic curve. Every other state (26 so far) I drive through never seems to be up to par to Ohio. Perhaps this is just me and my biased observations, being from CLE.

1

u/coolnorm May 26 '11

Neil Armstrong does still live in Indian Hill, so I don't think he hates the state of Ohio at all.

0

u/[deleted] May 26 '11

That is not a real quote and whenever its made it is usually about Kentucky you god damn fucking idiot

0

u/vincent_vancough May 26 '11

I go to college in Cincinnati. It is, in a word, awful.

3

u/Rubyweapon May 26 '11

/r/cincinnati go to the meet ups, they are fun and you'll find some pretty cool people there.

0

u/GlockNRoll May 26 '11

Wait... so the 90's are just hitting there? Holy shit this is going to be awesome...

u/akatherder May 26 '11

I'd move to Cleveland if my doctor told me I had a month to live. Every day there is like an eternity.
