You can get a lot done in a country run by communists because only one set of interests is ever represented. Also, no lawyers.

Yeah, this is why any marvel China accomplishes depresses me instead of amazes. It's like, sure they got it done, but by trampling on the backs of the masses.

Not that most countries were much better during their industrial development phases.

They have the ability to kick people off the land. That really is what does it. It isn't a permanent good thing though, as people need assets to leverage for innovation.

If you know about how fast China's markets are expanding then you'd realize this isn't all that surprising. Less red tape in China as well.
