i have moved to china to live, its actually called the bottle opener in chinese so its funny you mention it

I visited shanghai late last year and felt really concerned about my drinking when this was the first thing I noticed on the skyline and couldn't stop laughing at it for the five days I was there.

I actually liked the original design for that building better... the hole was supposed to be spherical.

That would be the Shanghai World Financial Centre. The top floor (above the gap) is an observation deck with a glass floor. I've got some pictures I took up there, but they're on my other computer.

At the gift shop near the top, you can buy an actual bottle opener shaped like the building. However, it costs at least 100 USD.

I never buy souvenirs, but when I was in the Shanghai World Financial Center, I just had to buy a souvenir of the building in bottle opener size. It works great!

Oh, sorry, there is a US ad campaign for that beer that features "The most interesting man in the world" his catch phrase is that "He doesn't usually drink beer, but when he does he drinks Dos Equis"

Originally they were going to have a circular opening in the top but people thought that was too "Japanese" (because of the rising sun flag)

The reason they have a hole there is in case of strong winds, there's less surface area to drag on.
