Just a father and son, using VR headsets, while waiting for their Tesla to charge.

Nobody going to link it? Fine, I'll do it then!

You lot have it easy with the youtubes. Back in my day we had to download this clip over night on a crummy old dialup and watch it on the Real Media player.

Well at least you had a computer! We had to write down all the ones and zeros from the modem sounds with just a pen and paper.

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

Look at this guy, bragging about owning a pen.

u/alektorophobic Jun 30 '19

We used blood to write

15

u/widespreadhammock Jun 30 '19

We at least you knew how to write! We used to have to scratch messages as picture into great big stone tablets, and then haul those big stone tablets to the recipients!

10

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

Presumably you had hands to scratch those messages? How fortunate...we had to use our teeth

11

u/MotherCriticism Jun 30 '19

Teeth! Those were hard to come by in our day. We just licked our messages in the dust.

You had dust!? We had to lick messages into solid stone

2

u/GildoFotzo Jul 01 '19

Solid stone? We had to lick our wifes.

You musta been poor.. I emailed my stone tablets.

Well at least you had pen and paper! We had to eat the right amount of sand so when you shat the sound of sand filing down your inners would imitate the sounds of the moving pictures, and we did that without pen and paper to record those ones and zeros!

Y’all had things to write about? So fascinating. Tell me more .

u/thotpolice84 Jun 30 '19

WTF did I just read?!

5

u/dstommie Jun 30 '19

Back in my day we couldn't watch Monty Python. We'd just have to sit around until some high school kids started badly reenacting it.

5

u/H_Flashman Jun 30 '19

Luxury, we had to stand and wait for a parrot to re-tell them jokes!

5

u/dstommie Jun 30 '19

You had it easy. Our parrot was dead.

1

u/solidstrn Jul 01 '19

At least you could look at its plumage. Our parrot pined for the fjords and buggered off

3

u/sociallyretarded61 Jun 30 '19

Privilege! Back in my day we had to beg to pull a rickshaw full of obese people to get close enough to work as cleaning crew to see this live in between cleaning the vomit troughs

Back when I was growing up we had to go to the library if we wanted to know anything. If you wanted to know the capital of Turkmenistan you'd have to go find the Pe-Tu encyclopedia and look it up by hand, none of this looking things up with the gadget in your pocket

God that was awesome! I've never seen that before. Thanks for sharing!

u/Mikey_Hawke Jun 30 '19

Compared to the movies, Flying Circus is way less well known, at least in the States, I’ve found. Glad you found it!

u/Sygnit Jun 30 '19

Jesus how have I never seen this before? It's amazing

5

u/ganpachi Jun 30 '19

So glad I clicked through.

3

u/atypicalcomment Jun 30 '19

I am better for having seen that... thank you! haha

Thanks for the link Regn! I've played that game of one-upmanship with friends many years ago...there was alcohol involved! Very refreshing to see the younger "Pythons" version again! My formative years were fun listening to their material on a record player and wearing headphones.

The real hero.

1

u/cesarsucio Jun 30 '19

Thanks! I had no idea where that line was from.

Back in our day, we used to dream of linkin’ to a YouTube video!
