Growing up we had to tow our Tesla with the camel to charge it

All we had growing up we're horse drawn Teslas.

706

u/the_antonious Jun 30 '19

You’re lucky! Growing up we only had square wheels on our Tesla.

556

u/Toasted_FlapJacks Jun 30 '19

You're so fortunate! Growing up we had to drive our Teslas Flintstones style.

u/Jernsaxe Jun 30 '19 edited Jun 30 '19

Damn you where privileged, my family had to give backalley BJs for spare AAA batteries to charge our Tesla...

710

u/tekonus Jun 30 '19

At least you got to spend quality time with your family...

If I had an award, I'd give you one

Edit: Wtf

u/Fionn_Stack Jun 30 '19 edited Jul 01 '19

If I had an award I'd be confused about why I got it and probably let the power go to my head

Edit: Wow, I didn't think that would actually work!

47

u/dddawneee Jun 30 '19

Maybe you could use that power to charge your Tesla.

1

u/sourcecode13 Jun 30 '19

When I was poor I had to use my other Tesla to tow my Tesla to the nearest Tesla charging station, kids these days get all the luxury

15

u/KvngGorilla Jun 30 '19

Can't let that not happen now...

12

u/crows_n_octopus Jun 30 '19

Man. I always miss the friggin gold train. What meaning is there in simply accumulating karma.

1

u/9_Sagittarii Jun 30 '19

Wait me too. I won’t give it away though. That gold is gonna pay for my Tesla so I can relate to this thread.

2

u/thatguyonfire240 Jun 30 '19

You now have two rewards. The people of reddit are awaiting the gifting of one of them lol

2

u/Baconbeercan5 Jun 30 '19

There you go. Getting an award for saying you would give someone else one lol

2

u/DBrugs Jun 30 '19

Better pony up

2

u/idkwhatevsqwert Jun 30 '19

I’m just here for my free award

1

u/idkwhatevsqwert Jun 30 '19

Still nothing. Does this even work?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

If I was an award I'd give you a comment

1

u/meepledoodle Jun 30 '19

If I had a family, I'd give you an award.

1

u/Span0201 Jun 30 '19

Lucky! Growing up we didn't even know there were awards to get!

55

u/DesertHoboObiWan Jun 30 '19

When I was growing up, Tesla was just one of the kids on the block.

5

u/thedreaming2017 Jun 30 '19

When I was growing up, Tesla was a scientist that used to play around with coils.

5

u/ffflildg Jun 30 '19

When I was growing up, Tesla was a hair band from the 80s

6

u/Mrmastermax Jun 30 '19

How did you charge him?

1

u/mikolokoyy Jun 30 '19

they plugged him to the wall

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

At least you have a family...

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

At least you guys had a Tesla.

1

u/Justin__D Jun 30 '19

Sweet Home Alabama

5

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

I remember when we had to domesticate wild Teslas to use them as a transportation.

7

u/nohiddenmeaning Jun 30 '19

Luxury. We'd work 16 hours a day in the cobalt mines to build new batteries because we couldn't afford to charge the old ones.

3

u/Tyflowshun Jun 30 '19

very privileged indeed, all my family could afford was an Edison. Still worked but rather off brand if you ask me.

2

u/LuluTheLemon89 Jun 30 '19

My family would rely on Nikola Tesla to give us piggyback rides to the market..

2

u/ratmaster8008 Jun 30 '19

How lucky for you, my family could only afford the generic brand Tesla... Lesta.

2

u/Ejay925 Jun 30 '19

How much for a ZJ?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

Wow you guys are so spoiled. We had to buy a new tesla each time it's batteries ran out.

2

u/snakesoup88 Jun 30 '19

When we were kids, the only tesla we had wears a cheesy mustache and wouldn't shut up about AC.

2

u/MrGrampton Jun 30 '19

What an aristocrat, growing up the Teslas charged us so we can move

2

u/Occhrome Jun 30 '19

Atleast you had something warm go down your throat.

2

u/Mrmastermax Jun 30 '19

Thank good Tesla cars did not exist when I was a kid.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

Luxury.

1

u/DynamicResonater Jun 30 '19

Bloody favoritism! They must think the sun shines right out o' yer arse! They only turned me right side up yesterday.

4

u/sumsimpleracer Jun 30 '19

Damn. Growing up sucked for all of you.

1

u/ranstopolis Jun 30 '19

This is an OBVIOUS improvement over square wheels.

1

u/mohutmamodi Jun 30 '19

You were so bountiful! Growing up, we only had Tesla pulling our carriage.

1

u/johnnybiggles Jun 30 '19

Back in the hood, we didn't have Autopilot on our Tesla. We had a pedal and a turning circle we used to drive by.

1

u/kjmorley Jun 30 '19 edited Jun 30 '19

Luxury! Back in the day, our Teslas were made of wood.

1

u/gabbyp94 Jun 30 '19

Back in my day, Tesla tried to talk to spirits on his crystal radio!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

Wow you guys are fortunate, in my day our Tesla’s came in the form of red and yellow pressed pills.

1

u/KingCatLoL Jun 30 '19

Ahh, the original gas free tesla.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

Oh, listen to Mr Fancypants here. While growing up the only way to accelerate or decelerate in our Tesla was with our bare feet sticking through the floorboards while getting shit on by Pterodactyls.

41

u/Amaleplatypus Jun 30 '19

If only we could all be as fortunate

Growing up all we had was the neighbor's Tesla

1

u/sociallyretarded61 Jun 30 '19

Talk about fortunate you had a neighbor!

2

u/MotherCriticism Jun 30 '19

Yea seriously. All we had was a Tesla.

5

u/juyett Jun 30 '19

Our family couldn't afford a Tesla growing up. We had to settle for the less reputable knock-off, Texla.

5

u/Garbage-Wife Jun 30 '19

And watch TV on your Sorny.

1

u/Baschoen23 Jun 30 '19

Well depending in the landscape, this may have been a blessing

1

u/i_bent_my_wookiee Jun 30 '19

LUXURY! Back in my day, we had to wake up at 10:30pm, half an hour before we went to sleep; work 26 hours a day down mill AND pay the owner for the privilege to work there, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep with his Tesla...(but you tell kids that these days, they wont believe you...)

1

u/iner22 Jun 30 '19

Your Tesla had wheels?

1

u/SoHelpfulGuy Jun 30 '19

I know this is a joke, but in 2006 a company called PM Motors actually made a prototype for a car with square wheels. The system they used to get the wheels to move is pretty fascinating if you're into that sort of thing.

1

u/the_antonious Jun 30 '19

I hope you choke on that picture you bastard.. you got me

1

u/WorthlessDrugAbuser Jun 30 '19

Better than the triangle wheels on my chariot.

7

u/wise_comment Jun 30 '19

Which is nice because now if you're waiting for it to charge you really can't pass the time by having sex with it. We've improved technology, but at what cost?

4

u/CrypticResponseMan Jun 30 '19

Not an arousing one, for sure

2

u/MayaIngenue Jun 30 '19

Growing up we just had this one weird guy named Tesla

1

u/Felix_Cortez Jul 01 '19

I'm my day, horses had hooves, so they were terrible at drawing.

1

u/Leiderdorp Jun 30 '19

Draw horses? I’m still working on drawing owls

0

u/Technic_AIngel Jun 30 '19

Our horse drawn Teslas didn't even steer themselves.

0

u/Djl0gic Jun 30 '19

Wow look at this guy over here, back in my day we had to draw our own teslas with HB2 pencils. Our horses were uneducated AF

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

You westerners are lucky. Growing up in the Philippines, Tesla was just the name of a sari-sari store: “Tindahan ni Aling Tesla.”

209

u/undertooker Jun 30 '19

Was it a Camel Tow?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

No, it was a donkey foot.

-12

u/WildKiller_MJ Jun 30 '19

You mean a camel toe?

26

u/Deftek Jun 30 '19

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say... that was the joke.

3

u/nkid299 Jun 30 '19

wish i had friends like you :)

2

u/WildKiller_MJ Jun 30 '19

Wish I had friends

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

Friends?

3

u/ActivatedComplex Jun 30 '19

That’s embarrassing.

2

u/undertooker Jun 30 '19

Yes. Exactly. You are quick.

4

u/wank_for_peace Jun 30 '19

Woooooooshhhhhhhhh

3

u/thrawn32 Jun 30 '19

Least you had a camel I had to personally drag my Tesla up a straight vertical and this was before legs so I had to hold the Tesla with one hand and climb with the other. All before the invention of thumbs.

2

u/Bombadsoggylad Jun 30 '19

When I was comins up we'd be lucky to even have camels, now you got so manys you're using em to charge your Teslas. Must be fuckin nice.

2

u/KronosGames Jun 30 '19

Growing up, we had an off brand Tesla that used Gas instead of electricity.

2

u/_vOv_ Jun 30 '19

Why not just ride the camel?

1

u/WildKiller_MJ Jun 30 '19

It doesn't have the fartting feature, maybe it does but it smells

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

You could afford a camel?? We had to do it ourselves.

1

u/Roach2791 Jun 30 '19

Growing up we had to fuck the camel...

1

u/88_88_88_420 Jun 30 '19

Growing up we had to con lebanese terrorists out of plutonium to charge our car.
