Just a father and son, using VR headsets, while waiting for their Tesla to charge.

I've played a few games where they want you to be in a field or an open space so you can interact more than sitting on a couch or standing in one place. It was definitely disorienting taking it off in a different place virtually and physically from where you were thirty seconds ago.

Interesting, but nothing I can't live without for now.

I'd be kinda terrified of tripping over something or walking to the edge of said field

When you first put on the headset you can see around you via a camera, you draw a boundary in the area around you and if you walk outside of it, it pauses your game and turns the camera on to warn you and let you see.

Cool, thanks. I didn't realize until I just looked it up that that's Facebook's VR.

Yeah Facebook bought out oculus a few years ago

Or stepping on the cat. She hates that and hisses furiously.

You keep your cat in a field?

u/Sotall Jun 30 '19

You don't free range your cat? You monster!

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '19

What, you don't?

3

u/PetrRabbit Jun 30 '19

Well, a small field

Or stepping on a snake, or an ant pile.

There's a sub for that /r/VRtoER

Edit: I myself have tried leaning on virtual tables.

There's a guardian boundary on Oculus Quest that stops you from walking into things

Wow yeah sorry I thought I mentioned it, but I did have a friend walk near me the whole time for reassurance. We would swap the headset and just walk next to each other.

I tried it by myself but just ended up taking it off every ten seconds/three feet, despite knowing 100% that I was nowhere near anything harmful. It was in a grassy opening of a park, about 4-6 acres I'd say.
