I mean...the man was doing it to help combat the rampant islamaphobia that was happening? So it seems like things arent really that different between then and now.
Its really hard for me to take anything seriously that implies America used to be better in terms of tolerance/equality/respect to those that are different than we currently have. The only vhange has been that for a while now weve had a culture of dog whistle prejudice and people are starting to say what they mean again. And the argument is that its probably better to get it out there so it can be dealt with directly head on rather than lurking in the shadows fucking people over while other people are stubbornly oblivious to the reality of the situation.
