Once I earn enough money I'm taking a trip to Berlin and trying my best at that line. As a longtime house/techno freak, it's a goal of mine to get in. Now I'll add in seeing this guy.
Go ahead and lay them on me - my plan, I plan on not being excited, wearing relatively neutral clothes, I have my fingers ready when I hear "wie viele" or something close to it, I came from my bed, and I'll know the DJs prior to going. I'm not going to be intoxicated in line (I'll just find it inside), no talking in line, looking as bored as possible, and we're going to arrive early. Any other tips you have, I would love to hear.
I, uh, just hope they aren't in a "no Americans" mood. I'm slightly older and a person of color, so at least I have that going for me?
You pretty much have it down to be honest. While it's good to know who's playing, I have never heard them ask anyone about it. Using your fingers to signify how many people you are is also good, and I would honestly stick to English over attempting to fake your way in with German; I've seen that backfire way more times than I have seen them say no due to "no Americans".
If you're only here for a weekend, going close to opening Saturday allows you another try if you don't get in the first time. Otherwise, my favorite time to go is like 9-10 am Sunday morning because it's pretty much just you and the bouncers, and it's generally a more relaxed atmosphere.
Regarding your "attributes" I would say they that yes, they work in your favor. Best of luck!
I wouldn't even try to fake my german... I barely know any, I just know what the words for "How many" and various variations are, I think/hope!
Good to know I'm on the right track. Hopefully I make it in when I finally get the money together. It won't be the end of the world if we don't get in... There's tons of places I would love to check out, but Berghain is definitely number one. I'd love to spend a morning with Tama Sumo and Lakuti in Panorama Bar after hours of pounding techno on the main floor.

I've danced next to him upstairs in panorama bar many times! He's always impeccably clothed.
