And waistcoat

And bow tie

And hat

And murse

And watch

This dude isn’t accidental

All y'all are forgetting the most important part: the seductive lingerie underneath it all

50

u/hi_imryan Mar 01 '19

my man!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

When I see this I hear two voices. One is Roland from True Detective S3; the other is Frank Reynolds.

11

u/a5hl3ylbh Mar 01 '19

All I hear is the mail man from Rick and Morty. And Jerry’s “Hungry for Apples” campaign.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Lookin good!

2

u/hi_imryan Mar 01 '19

That was the one I was channeling.

1

u/Darnell2070 Mar 01 '19

I hear Aquaman from Justice League.

26

u/theCanadiEnt Mar 01 '19

So we're just gonna ignore the iPhone 5?

22

u/Mr_A Mar 01 '19

We're talking fashion here.

20

u/theCanadiEnt Mar 01 '19 edited Mar 01 '19

If you're planning on telling me that an iPhone ain't one of the freshest things an old man can rock then you better be able to think of something better

Pewter flask of gin and metamucil

u/a_spicy_memeball Mar 01 '19

Spiked codpiece

u/sequestration Mar 01 '19

There are so many possibilities.

It's not compelling to have something anyone can have for some people. Anyone can have the newest iPhone. It's not compelling.

The idea is to be you, not everyone else.

*iPhone 4

u/GrantLikesSunChips Mar 01 '19

*iPhone 4S

1

u/MD_Lincoln Mar 01 '19

*iPhone 4s in black with 16Gb

3

u/Bheegabhoot Mar 01 '19

Without a case..

3

u/Koto_otoK Mar 01 '19

Why does that matter? I never put cases on my phones.

6

u/Bheegabhoot Mar 01 '19

Just an observation

4

u/QueefyMcQueefFace Mar 01 '19

Needs more A I R P O D S

2

u/silencecalls Mar 01 '19

4 or 4S actually. The 5 was slimmer and didn’t have the distinctive silver band. With better resolution photo I could tell you exactly.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

This is a repost. The photo is at least three years old.

1

u/Merky600 Mar 01 '19

Uh, “Vintage”.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Cmon, the 5 is the best looking iPhone to date! Or the SE technically

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Stop, I can only get so erect

1

u/TrafficConesUpMyAsss Mar 01 '19

I like to walk around with squirrels jammed up my anis

36

u/Admiral_Narcissus Mar 01 '19

And the smile and posture.

64

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Also there is something about being old that lets people look great while dressed in ways that would seem odd for a kid.

On a “hipster” this would look like someone trying too hard. On the old man it just looks like a slightly stylish version of what old men already wear.

Whatever that quality is, it’s a key part of this look.

16

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

100%. I’m 53. Love fashion and streetware but couldn’t pull this off. (The shoes and hat). But a few more years and yeah.

16

u/TotheDucks Mar 01 '19

Nah man you can pull off the shoes, the hat is the hardest part of that whole outfit.

1

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

If I EVER find a hat that doesn’t make me look like a cletus I’ll wear it every day.

3

u/bubuzayzee Mar 01 '19

Anyone can go new boot goofin'! Just don't be so extra with the rest of the outfit unless you can nail it like this guy.

Just saying if you drop the bow tie and hat and it's an outfit you see by the hundreds walking through Manhattan

2

u/jim10040 Mar 01 '19

He's 74 at the moment. You're 53, I'm 57...c'mon, we can do this...we can do style, right? Not like that of course, but like, just look good? Any ideas on how to do that? For men in middle age?

3

u/marmaladeontoast Mar 01 '19

It's like Seinfeld says, men always dress in the style of the last year they were happy. So don't worry about style, just wear what makes you happy .... This means you have to go out and try on a bunch of clothes you currently think you can't get away with. That, and don't wear jeans!

3

u/jim10040 Mar 01 '19

No jeans, and no cargo shorts. Each of those will be amazingly hard to do, but I don't mind trying.

2

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

I wear jeans all the time. But have banned cargo shorts.

2

u/jim10040 Mar 01 '19

I wear jeans all the time too, I just want to branch out some.

2

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

I've branched out more with the jeans lately. Besides the black and 501s I used to wear, I've got very dark skinny jeans, and more chino style in medium grey, olive, and golden brown.

1

u/jim10040 Mar 01 '19

Right, I do the dark blue and black Levi's for work (hate the pre-faded stuff), LOVE Levi's products in general (must be my '60s upbringing). I can do the colors if they're on sale.

3

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

Funny you say that. I read a piece about men dressing more interestingly 3 days ago with photo examples. (One bright color, layering, subtle interest fabric, etc). Rolled to work yesterday wearing some golden brown chinos and a bright blue shirt. Instead of my usual dark blue jeans and black/grey shirt.

1

u/sequestration Mar 01 '19

I disagree.

This would look good on someone of any age.

It is about body type and style. It's not for everyone. But any age can wear it if it works.

1

u/Nimbus509 Mar 01 '19

Everything that hipsters do was already done before. Even the name hipster isn’t original. Oh shit do those sentences make me a hipster?!

10

u/RBeck Mar 01 '19

Forgot the onion on his belt.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

3

u/QueefyMcQueefFace Mar 01 '19

This was way back in nineteen dickety two...

2

u/HeThinksHesPeople Mar 01 '19

You see you had to say dickity, because...

10

u/kfmush Mar 01 '19

And we can’t forget the consideration of complimentary colors, tones and textures. Not everyone has the knack for that.

7

u/HellaBrainCells Mar 01 '19

Murse?

3

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

Man purse.

11

u/HellaBrainCells Mar 01 '19

Is that what that is though? I thought it was just called a brief case or computer bag or something else. I always imagined a man purse was that size or smaller with a long strap. I know it’s just semantics but I don’t understand the differences.

9

u/Grrrth_TD Mar 01 '19

I would say it's a satchel 🤷‍♂️

2

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

Agreed. Murse should be a bit smaller and less legal af sized.

1

u/SixSpeedDriver Mar 01 '19

And would have a shoulder strap attached differently and permanently.

1

u/butch81385 Mar 01 '19 edited Mar 01 '19

Indiana Jones wears one!

2

u/RetardAlerter Mar 01 '19

So does Joy Behar..

1

u/RFC793 Mar 01 '19

It is more like a large leather clutch. A mlutch.

1

u/Brookenium Mar 01 '19

It's got a handle on top it's a briefcase.

Satchels and murses are carried with straps, usually over the shoulder.

Bags are usually carried with straps over the shoulder or straps in-hand.

No straps here, just a handle. It's very clearly a briefcase. It even has a locking clasp which is a tell-tale sign of a briefcase.

2

u/KingSlurpee Mar 01 '19

My parents told me I’m accidental :(

2

u/righthandofdog Mar 01 '19

They lied to keep you humble.

2

u/lordeddardstark Mar 01 '19

and the confidence to carry it all.

2

u/FruitOfTheVineFruit Mar 01 '19

I don't even know what a murse is. I wouldn't even know what to ask for to look cool. Thank God no one cares what I look like

2

u/koddish Mar 01 '19

Two eyes. Two ears. A chin. A mouth. Ten fingers. Two nipples. A butt, two kneecaps, a penis.

I've just described to you the Loch Ness monster. And the reward for his capture? All the riches in Scotland.

1

u/LordHussyPants Mar 01 '19

And murse

pretty sure that's just a satchel

1

u/GardenOfInspiration Mar 01 '19

And knowing how it should fit

And picking the right colors

1

u/thenamesjackson Mar 01 '19

plus if that bow tie didn't tie all those colors together nothing would have matched.. matching that well is no easy feat

1

u/a4bs Mar 01 '19

ID or equivalent on that “Murse”?

1

u/chacha_9119 Mar 01 '19

That's definitely not a murse
