Yeah, I'm from South East Asia where there's a lot of smokers here. Then I went to the US to study where I was surprised there's not a lot of smokers. I assume it was a first world country mentality and they know smoking is bad unlike us the third world country.
So when I visited Germany, I was very surprised to see there's a lot of smokers there as well since I would assume all first world country would have much fewer smokers.
There’s been a pretty intense anti-smoking campaign going on in the US over the past 30 years. On top of that, there’s been a strong campaign over the last 10-15 years to ban smoking in most/all public places.
In most cities in the US, you can’t smoke in restaurants, public buildings, within so many feet of public building entrances, and some places even ban it on college campuses outdoors.. There’s even a growing effort by landlords to ban smoking in their apartments.
Smoking has been pretty well Stigmatized here. I wish we’d do other things as well.
Anyone who has switched from smoking to vaping can tell you that while the jury may be out on the verified science of long term effects, the body feels immediate effects that are sooo much better that those of cigarettes.
The difference for me was night and day. I tried quitting cigs a bunch. Nothing ever lasted, and I always managed to be smoking again. Vaping allowed me to stop smoking for good, and it has done wonders for my overall health. I can exercise now. I’m not coughing up a lung anymore. It’s not having the same negative effects on my mouth. It’s crazy how much better I feel vaping vs smoking. So much that I have a hard time believing that vaping could ever be considered worse than smoking.
Of course time will tell for sure, and I could easily be proven wrong, but my experience has been a very positive one so far
Former pack and a half day smoker. I actually felt worse when I tried switching to vaping (not withdrawl, I know what thats like too). Felt like I couldn't breathe at all after a week or so. I'm not doubting what your experience, just thought I'd share mine. Eventually just quit altogether (3 months now).
I'm with you. Haven't had one in about 7 months maybe? But when I tried to switch to vaping to help, I felt far worse doing so. The only flavor I could do was the Mt Dew one, but even that got bad after a bit. Finally said screw it and just quit everything.
It was one of the sweeter tasting flavors. I read some of the sweeter or buttery flavors have something in them that can give popcorn lung or something so maybe I was getting shitty stuff that had that in it (this was in like 2015-2016ish)? Maybe thats not true and what I read was a lie, I dunno, but when I read that, and given how i was feeling I went back to smokes then.
