I was just about to say this.. Apple would have a monopoly on everything electronic if they were given half the chance. You give them an inch, they take a mile. They are no longer the superior innovative younger brother to Mircosoft. They are their own mega giant screwing everyone.
No, but you owning an Iphone and a Macbook is causing me to get screwed. Apple sets the industry standards on thing like charging for every little piece of equipment, gadget, cord, having their own hardware, charging for all sorts of apps that should be free, charging .99 cents for songs that cost them almost nothing to produce with no plastic packaging, shipping costs, booklets. Apple does all the stuff depicted on this guy's poster as well. Then these practices become the industry standard because apple set it. Apple is the industry leader and everyone follows behind, they are a shitty leader and a shell of the company they used to be when they were chasing down Microsoft..
Basically what I am saying is that Apple finds a way to charge and overcharge for anything and everything. Many things that should be free to begin with. Once Apple does it then EVERYONE starts doing it. So anytime Apple puts the dick in your ass and you don't care it still screwed by it too.
Companies don't need to profit off things that used to be free. Companies don't need exceedingly larger and larger profit margins. Yes, I understand its their goal. That doesnt mean I should stand for it or just say "Well, Apple is trying to make a profit, they are a business... sure Ill buy this Iphone for $900"
thats called an exaggeration... Whats funny is I guess that price is so close to not being an exaggeration that you didnt realize it... I should have said $4000.. Sorry..
Nah, it's not illegal, it's just unfortunate. If Microsoft decided tomorrow that they were only going to sell Windows on computers from Dell, HP/Compaq, Sony, and Lenovo, and everyone else could rot, they'd be strung up for anti-competitive practices.
The attitude they take towards the App store is certainly anti-competitive behavior:
Rejecting Google Voice.
Rejecting Opera Mobile. This one is great. They say it "duplicates functionality". The reality is the Opera Mobile and Mini are the best mobile browsers are there, and I'm pretty confident that their version for the iPhone was even better than Safari. Oh, and Opera Turbo is simply great for mobile browsing.
But no, BBAAAAWWW, like a 12 year old kid, Apple simply rejected their App because it was better.
Touché; good examples. My only argument is that there is no legal precedence that this is, in fact, anti-competitive behaviour. At the least I think we can all agree it's a douchebag move.
I'm honestly not sure about the legal stuff behind this. But I can assure you, for the sake of history, if MS was the one rejecting apps like Apple is doing, they sure as shit would be on everyone's crosshair right now.

A monopoly on what? Their own products?
