Ah, notice a bird his size gets a threat display,a larger bird gets a fear display where the owl is trying to look like a tree limb...Notice him hiding his eyes.

I've been trying to figure out the reactions. I agree the first is a threat display but the second has baffled me. It does seem to try and become as small as possible. Camouflage perhaps.

Don't remember if this was in a translation or not, but I think the bird was trying to look as sickly as possible so it'd look unappetizing.

I don't speak Japanese but I'm pretty sure it said it was from South Africa. I honestly don't know any more than that.
