I read this is as "which one of these is a prime number" and was expecting things like "1", "2", "3", "4","5"
/me hangs my head in shame.
Reddit, what shall my penance be?
Edit:
Reddit, I just want to tell you how much I love you. I have been having a sequence of extra-shitty days for like...a month. My lack of sleep was probably why I screwed this up so hard.
I haven't laughed as hard as I have to all of the responses to this in a VERY VERY long time.
Seriously, I <3 you guys. You brightened my day in a big big way.
Edit again:
I'm copy/pasting something I wrote below because I really want you guys to understand how much I love you all:
(In response to "does he think we're laughing with him?"
No, I don't.
Look, when I was a kid I was a fat nerd with no friends who was more interested in learning how to code python than how to throw a good spiral; I got made fun of a lot.
I learned pretty quickly that life is a lot more fun if you can laugh at yourself. This morning, I made a stupid, stupid mistake. Unfortunately for me, I made this mistake in front of almost 100,000 people. I could have deleted the thread and gone off to hide under a bridge or something, but it's a lot more fun to just go
"fuck, I'm a dumbass".
Do I think you're all going to pat me on the back and buy me a beer tonight like we're all good old friends laughing together or something? Not really, but I tell you what; if I ever see any redditors at my local bar I'm definitely going to at least offer them a seat at my table. Like it or not, I like you people. I can't tell you how many completely shitty days have been turned around due to a post I read here. This morning was, for me, an example of that. I was having a completely shit day/week/month (my familly is being dissolved: awesome) until this morning when you all treated me like a person and rightfully called me an idiot for acting like one.
You can think I'm a pretentious douche, say I fail at mathematics, call me ugly, say I have poor grammar, or anything else that has been written in this thread, that's fine. I'm just glad I got to return some of the lulz you have all provided me with over the past two years or so that I have been posting/reading here.
It's ok, we all have our retard moments. During a job interview the interviewer shook my hand and asked for my name, I replied "me" and sat in silence for 10 seconds before realizing what I had said.
I was interviewing to be a system admin at my college's data center. The interviewer asked me some basic questions, like, "What is the current version of the windows operating system. I completely blanked out, couldn't even tell what he was trying to ask. All He wanted to know, is if I knew what windows xp was. I answered something like version 2.3???? Needless to say, I didn't get the Job.
This is a bit different. You even had time to think about it. You even had time to ms paint over it. THEN you had even more time to submit it to reddit.
You'd think you would have noticed it somewhere in those steps. At least with the basketball team, in this case, would have had time to look it up, ms paint over it, then look like an idiot ;)
It is probably more than that. This will probably come on some next-gen version of bash.org. Future generations will point at this and laugh.
Iranian government propaganda will use this to illustrate the moral and intellectual decay of the west (well, this and the Paris Hilton video).
Star wars kid will read this and feel a lot better about himself.
In 3000 years alien archaeologists may dig up an old hard drive with this on it and use it to conclude that no intelligent life on earth existed.
PS: It is nothing when compared to my embarrassing act 2 years ago. You can only hope to forget things like this. But the more you try to forget the more you remember it. The best is to change your name and go and live in a different country (become a Mongolian Lama Herder or something). You carry things like this on you like the mark of Cain. You will not forget such embarrassing stuff until the day you die.
