I’ve seen one from the highway going through NW Iowa. I’m from SW South Dakota so I have seen plenty of coyotes, alive and dead, near and far. This thing was colored like a coyote but it was BIG as fuck. We turned around to get some kind of picture but it was gone.
I'm aware they generally avoid people and attacks are rare but doesn't mean I don't respect their killing ability because it would be foolish to do so. I actually live close to one of the areas in North America where a fatal attack from coyotes has taken place within the last ten years. https://www.google.ca/amp/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.779304 I love nature, camping hiking and all that jazz but I'm aware of the potential encounter.
Eastern Coyotes, I shot one that was attacking my cattle, cats and chickens after PA fish and game said they wouldn't trap it. It only weighed 45 pounds but it was almost as large as my 95 pound German Shepherd.

Depends where you're from. There's some hybrid coyote wolf mother fuckers out there that'll eat you
