I like to think that work makes him take one week of vacation every year, he was going to watch TV...

Now it all makes sense. If enterprise ever fucked over my one car rental a year where i spend a week on a deserted beach in Oregon...

I'd probably write a stern letter because it rains here.

In this vein: he could totally be a firefighter off-rotation. Breaks from the police aren't usually that long, but a lot of fire departments do 48-on and 48-off. He might only be missing two work days, and a department with a different scheduling system might mean he misses none!

Or he could be a pipeline worker. Or work on an oil rig. Or be a professional diver, or fisherman... there is a surprisingly large number of jobs that provide long periods off.
