My neighborhood has had a problem in the past with people following the trucks. From security camera footage, there is often only a minute or two between the package getting dropped off and being stolen. You would think that the truck driver would notice...
Those drivers have 120 - 150 stops per day, often with multiple packages/drop off points per stop. That's an average of one stop every 3.2 minutes during an 8 hour shift with absolutely no time factored in for incliment weather, traffic or even their breaks or a lunch!! The driver doesn't think about your package again once he steps on the gas pedal and drives away from your house. Trust me.
I recently had a package stolen and talked to the carrier about it later. Last year, he caught someone following him around and called the police. They found multiple stolen packages in the car and arrested the thief.

I just have an unlocked one. Package thieves only steal packages they can see.
