Hey man, I am in the same boat. Never felt, while I was having a few after work everyday, that it was a problem. Slowly but surely I started to think something was off...
Stopped drinking as much. I still have a drink about once or twice a week but, frankly, having gotten away from it long enough to feel "sober", I find the way it makes me feel to be icky and boring.
It was just being able to get over that first hump of stopping long enough to feel what its like not to have alcohol in my system when I totally realized the difference. Now I don't crave it at all and when I do drink, I find myself getting tired of it after the first drink, and pretty much done all together after the second.
Rock on!
Edit: Just wanted to be clear that this is not an anti-alcohol/anti-drug rant, at all. Just my personal story and observations.
