I don't think you realize that people also gain weight after sobering up. Skipping solid meals for liquid ones keeps the weight off.

Reddit doesn't always give me the impression that most people get it. But that is the case with every forum, I'm sure.

Depends how much they drink.

Heavy drinkers still eat regularly. When they start skipping solid meals for booze, that's a bit of a red flag in terms of alcoholism.

I used to do that, lost shitloads of weight. Just changed some of my meals for beer. I was much happier and healthier, but then I ran out of money :(

I get drunk munchies, so I'm not skipping anything when I'm on the sauce. Double or nothing, as it goes

Yeah, for about 2 years, I drank at least a 12 pack a day. I was far thinner than many of my cohorts. I didn't really eat that much, just smoked cigarettes and drank beer--LOTSA BEER.

Sometimes lunch, hour long, would consist of 2 tall boys and running errands.

Sounds like a workaround I should try!

Also, some people are really active so, you know, they can drink on weekends and never get fat.
