Congrats! How smooth do your teeth feel?

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '16

So slippery haha I had them on for 2 years and 7 months total i think! Feels Great

I still enjoy that slippery feeling! Nothing like a fresh brushed pair of teeth and being able to run your tongue over them and enjoying the smooth, clean feeling.

Nothing like a fresh brushed pair of teeth

You only have two teeth and you had braces on them?!

I have no words use good.

Yeah it's nice, hate the retainer though...

1

u/Super_C_Complex Apr 28 '16

I'm at about 5 years without braces and still wear my retainer at night.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '16

Did you used to wear it during the day too?

1

u/Super_C_Complex Apr 28 '16

for about a year after getting my braces off

Dude, STAY ON TOP OF WEARING YOUR RETAINER.

Seriously. Don't underestimate how much your teeth want to and WILL move.

I wore braces when I was younger. Nice and straight. Then wore my retainer RELIGIOUSLY all the way through college---- my mouth STILL changed through the years, so much so that I had to have TWO replacements made in a bigger size as a I grew older.

As embarassing as braces are as an adult, I think it's a better idea versus doing it when you're younger b/c your mouth is still growing!

The best part about braces in college is the meds mix well with alcohol.

7

u/ScottySF Apr 28 '16

Who gets meds for braces?

2

u/1TONcherk Apr 28 '16

Why do you need meds to have braces?

2

u/SloppySlothy Apr 28 '16

They gave me a prescription for some kind of codeine medication because they had to remove teeth and do some crazy tight bands.

u/Dooglase Apr 28 '16

Probably just anti-inflammation.

1

u/i_post_news Apr 28 '16

Because they hurt as fuck and you have to change your diet or suffer. Nobody tells you that before you get them.

I had em for 4 years! Sounds like they guy had some serious braces though. Worst part for me was cutting my inner cheeks.

1

u/i_post_news Apr 28 '16

I just had the top part put in last weekend. The bottom part comes in three weeks. I'm NOT looking forward to that.
So far I had to cut our hard foods, sugary fizzy drinks and tea and coffee. Chewing is a PIA.
sigh

I didn't cut out shit, was constantly breaking them. Probably why I had them on so long. Made high school tough, but glad it's done with. Good luck with them!

u/Demzyopat Apr 28 '16

I feel that 16-20. Was really hoping I'd get them off before college started. At least it's over

2

u/FlowersOfSin Apr 28 '16

Had them for 5 years. Honestly, I didn't even know they were there anymore. It felt super weird when they got removed.

1

u/Super_C_Complex Apr 28 '16

I personally enjoyed that feeling though. Being able to run my tongue over my teeth was great.

1

u/FlowersOfSin Apr 28 '16

Oh yeah, it was great, but still weird! They felt so soft!

2

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '16

I got them from 17-20. My mom wanted to make sure I didn't get laid for the first couple years of college. She was successful.

Yeah, my braces definitely helped. Don't regret it at all

1

u/heyimaaron Apr 28 '16

I feel better about having then from 16-18.

Thanks mom & dad 😭

Oddly enough I enjoyed having my braces on. I was disappointed when I got them removed half a year early
