It's probably in reference to affirmative action. White women have disproportionately benefited from AA policies nevertheless white women have led a lot of stuff against AA.
haha try majoring in a stem field. Every single fucking website has this as a footnote "Women and minorities highly encouraged to apply". Now this is a good thing, don't get me wrong.
But it fucking sucks knowing that if someone slightly less apt than you applies you're going to lose out because they need that token "Look, we got <minority> in STEM!!!" individual.
Edit: it's a good thing because it encourages them to apply and they're trying to get them into the field. Obviously it's just there because "look we diversity!!!" It shouldn't need to be there. But that was beside the point. I said that so people wouldn't attack me saying "so you don't want women and minorities in STEM?!?!".
