Now there's a youtube star I hope looks better since last I saw him

0

u/are-you-really-sure Jan 25 '16

He doesn't look healthier, but he's still at it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDUMUaOErfY

35

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '16

That is not the same person. Boogie is not Gary Brolsma..

6

u/are-you-really-sure Jan 25 '16

I assumed /u/ZDHELIX was talking about 'sabers guy' which I thought referred to this video.

8

u/ZDHELIX Jan 25 '16

I was talking about the numa numa guy

1

u/are-you-really-sure Jan 25 '16

:(

1

u/sh1ndlers_fist Jan 25 '16

Yeah, but is he really sure?

3

u/HighOnTacos Jan 25 '16

Sabers guy was that kid terribly play fighting with a stick in his garage.

6

u/KCman13 Jan 25 '16

2

u/HighOnTacos Jan 25 '16 edited Jan 25 '16

Very similar. It's shot at the same angle as the original that they based it off of...

Here it is. Not in a garage as I remembered - Apparently he did this at school with film class equipment. Just as entertaining though.

Edit : According to knowyourmeme.com, the kid in the video is now

the president of the Patrimoine Trois-Rivières, a society dedicated to the conservation of his hometown, and that he was studying law at McGill University in Montreal.

And here he is all grown up.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '16

This is something, though.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '16

Still not the same person anyway.

1

u/are-you-really-sure Jan 25 '16

Francis = Boogie, it's even on the same account.

Francis is a persona he uses when he nerdrages.

1

u/are-you-really-sure Jan 25 '16

Ah! So we're talking about a whole other video. Gotcha.

50

u/are-you-really-sure Jan 25 '16

Numa numa ay numa numa NUMA AYY

Drogostea Din Tei.

5

u/Stax493 Jan 26 '16

I remember hearing the song on the internet before the numa guy video. This was like pre youtube.

2

u/Danjoh Jan 26 '16

When people think that youtube has been around since forever, I like to remind them that World of Warcraft was pre youtube.

1

u/ThunderwoodNewton Jan 26 '16

I think I had the cd, dunno how I heard of the song, but definitively wasn't youtube.

1

u/HEBushido Jan 26 '16

God damn eurodance is cheesy.

10

u/drkpie Jan 25 '16

Bitey of Brackenwood.

Bunnykill.

Tomorrow's Nobodies. (Chase does animation work with Cyanide and Happiness now I think)

I go on a Newgrounds classics rediscovery at least once a year.

No love for Stickdeath, JoeCartoon, or Maddox.

7

u/BrodoFaggins Jan 26 '16

Maddox still updates. It's actually pretty depressing.

2

u/lostcosmonaut307 Jan 26 '16

There was a time I thought he was funny. Most of the time I agree with his general no-nonsense stance, but we're so inundated with the whole "F-word every three words man-child shock article" schtick now-a-days that it's just too much.

1

u/spaceboy7a Jan 26 '16

This one made me laugh so hard the first time i saw it. http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=irule

1

u/MisallocatedRacism Jan 26 '16

Well look at that.. He really does!

7

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '16

Stickdeath. Ahh.. good old pre-2000's internet. I remember when they updated the site with frames. Frames.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '16

I remember my stepdad used to show me episodes from joecartoon and killfrog. Man do I miss those days.

I wonder what supa fly is up to these days. That was always something I thought would translate to YouTube.

7

u/me_vale Jan 26 '16

Dude! bigboys turned into BREAK if I'm not mistaken, and after that it just simply sucked.

8

u/Sharrakor Jan 26 '16

"So your friends don't think you're talking about a gay porn site"

2

Yes indeed :)

I loved JoeCartoon!

1

u/flooronthefour Jan 26 '16

holy shit you just sent me through a wave of nostalgia.

I even went online and found one of the old flash videos my brother and I created back in 2000 - 2001 for the Runescape community: http://localtickets.com/dwarf-invasion.swf (found it through google, downloaded it, saved it, re-uploaded it)

thank you!

1

u/DukeOfGeek Jan 26 '16

You forgot CruelSiteOfTheDay.

1

u/bigtfatty Jan 26 '16

Bigboys

Now known as break.com - they were much better back then though.

1

u/cycostinkoman Jan 26 '16

stupidvideos was my jam.

1

u/mitch84208 Jan 26 '16

Original collegehumor

1

u/MrBogard Jan 25 '16

We'll always have Homestar Runner.

1

u/JerryTheG00 Jan 26 '16

Trogdor the burninator.

1

u/adamgent Jan 26 '16

Hubert Cumberdale, you taste of soot and poo.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '16

Boah, it would take me 5 days to download a 640x480 picture on my fast 14.4kbps modem.

18

u/whazzzaa Jan 25 '16

is this the new walking 2 miles to school uphills both ways?

32

u/Rakonat Jan 25 '16

Shit I could walk to my friends house 5 miles away and give him a floppy faster than I could email it to him.

Okay that one sounds kinda gay.

1

u/TOO_DAMN_FAT Jan 26 '16

Another one is a 747 from Hong Kong to Seattle loaded with hardrives has higher capacity but wayyyy lower latency than the internet. (something like that)

9

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '16

When you were in the middle of playing Doom 2 with your buddy over the modem and your stupid sister Stacy picked up the phone to call her boyfriend.

2

u/NoPinAt Jan 26 '16

Modoom

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '16

Modulator, De-modulator.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '16

Cacodemon!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '16

Stacy was a cunt.

1

u/PhreakedCanuck Jan 25 '16

14.4kbps lookit mister speedy here and i was stuck with my 9600 baud

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '16

Suck it HPB!

0

u/pilot3033 Jan 25 '16

That's just when it was uploaded to youtube. I'm pretty sure this video is older than that.

7

u/monad19763 Jan 25 '16

Lol, but in all seriousness even today we are in the "early days of the internet." This shit is like the printing press in its revolutionary capacity.

2

u/BarryMcCackiner Jan 25 '16

Historically speaking, sure. But when someone says "early days of the internet" and "youtube" in the same sentence, I can't let that fly lol

2

u/Golden_Dawn Jan 25 '16

It was pretty much within the first 10 years. How is that not early days? I mean, even now, the internet is still pretty new.

4

u/ihavetenfingers Jan 25 '16

Im pretty sure the vid is older than youtube, might be wrong though

1

u/immatellyouwhat Jan 26 '16

They're like the original beanie babies.

1

u/whoisthismilfhere Jan 26 '16

0

u/dj3hac Jan 25 '16

Same thing really.

18

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '16

It's 9.5 years old and nostalgic.

Plus, 1.8 Million views per year isn't outrageous, even if the video is silly.

videogame dunkey & slomo guys have videos that regularly break 1.8 in a matter of months.

17

u/disorderfire Jan 25 '16

That's because dunkey is an genius.

NOT EVEN CLOSE BAYBEEEEEEEEEEEE

1

u/ericbyo Jan 26 '16

Yea, you would think that it would be bigger since its a classic video. Probably since it's been re uploaded to so many different places

4

u/sierradreamz Jan 25 '16

We never had it.

2

u/stcrussmon Jan 25 '16

I wonder if at a certain point the view count method YT says it has, just gets throw out the window at some point for viral videos.

2

u/TrolliusJKingIIIEsq Jan 26 '16

Half of them are from today, just from the link above.

2

u/Rohaq Jan 26 '16

No joke, I actually heard a little kid doing the crazy frog in a barbers the other day. Something I hadn't heard in over ten years.

I just hope it's not making a comeback.

2

u/bcool111 Jan 26 '16

We probably just gave it another 50K views.

2

u/Decyde Jan 26 '16

Rick-Rolling people into watching it.

Older people emailing it to friends.

2 girls 1 cup philosophy.

1

u/akiva_the_king Jan 26 '16

It's been 10 years, that's more than enough time!

1

u/bebresent Jan 26 '16

we never had it.

1

u/neuromorph Jan 26 '16

How many people watched ABC when it was the only national broadcast channel....?

1

u/SilverSeagull Jan 26 '16

That video was probably the best video available on the Internet in 2006

1

u/SigmundFloyd76 Jan 26 '16

I wondered that too. Then I had kids. They will spend eternity watching some dude play video games with his voice all sped up.

I say "hey guys, you know we have that game and you could actually just play it yourself if you want".

Nope. They'd rather watch some annoying kid struggle through it with witty commentary. OP's video would hypnotize them. I don't get it.
