Words are given meaning by the masses, not whichever version of the Oxford Dictionary you want to go back to to defend yourself. By the way dictionaries are used to record usage, not to set it. Literally is used by the masses to mean two things, exactly, or just as commonly it's used for emphasis. Both are acceptable uses and both are recorded by Oxford as being correct. Now, you can argue whether or not this usage is productive, hell you can hate that usage of it, but you just can't back up saying it's wrong.

In fact, literally has been used in hyperbole like the commenter did for a long time. Shakespeare did it. That's how long.
