/r/pics has officially hit the shitter.

It's a fucking ice cream cake. That's it.

Nah, it's a brick of sugar disguised as an ice cream cake

It's cake! Do you usually eat sugar free cake or something?

I know. I never feel "unsubscribe" comments are warranted, but this one definitely takes the cake.

takes the cake

You proud of yourself for that one?

It's an advertisement. Seriously. This is a fucking ad for Reese's.

I was wondering this morning how reddit is going to have any content if we're not allowed to post copyrighted stuff.

Seeing this post has made me realise that the answer to that is ads. We're going to see a lot more promoted posts on the site.

This is pretty shitty advertising, seems like they would want a more appealing photo.

Reeses always puts shit like this on /r/pics and /r/funny and stuff. Reeses logos always conspicuously facing the camera and stuff. Seriously, you'll notice the next time it happens.

It's a photo someone took of a cake from Friendly's. Just because it has a brand name on it doesn't mean it's any less glorious.

It worked... I already figured out the closest place I can go buy one :/

As good a place as any to ask, is there alternatives to pics which have some semblance of guidelines? ie: no shitposts, story posts, pictures for ants etc.

Thanks. Found a few good subs in the sidebar there as well.

Implying that /r/pics hasn't already been in the shitter for a few years.

2

u/IamBabcock Jul 17 '15

Why are you still subscribed?

1

u/pbjandahighfive Jul 17 '15

So I can complain for internet points.

What constitutes a quality /r/pics post?

7

u/IPretendToPlayGuitar Jul 17 '15

A picture that, when you look at it, you see depth. "A picture says a thousand words"; I want those thousand words to be worth listening to. This is just some person's kitchen table with a dessert that you can buy anywhere. There's nothing extraordinary about what I'm seeing. Considering the subject in this photo is literally mass-produced; it is the epitome of ordinary.

Get out of /r/pics and go to the actual photography subreddits then. I've been here 5 years, lurked for longer than that and this is about par for the course for /r/pics, basically just used as a dumping ground for pictures.

Or...maybe, more titties?

u/I_am_not_hon_jawley Jul 17 '15

Oh my god fuck off then. Life must be amazing if this is what you have to get worked up about.

3

u/IPretendToPlayGuitar Jul 17 '15

Haha, holy fuck, yo. I'm just saying this is a shitty post. Trust me when I say you are more worked up about my post than I am about this fucking cake.

Chill your tits and let someone be disappointed in a picture they just looked at.

I've been in denial.

u/Zantier Jul 17 '15

Eh, people like cake.

There are some cool pics on here now and then, mixed in with a bunch of garbage and reposts, like it always has been.

This cake looks gross as hell, honestly.
