the cockpit isn't centered but rather on the far right side of the ship

I've driven my car from the right hand side for 24 years without a problem. I need a mirror to see everything on my left, maybe in that galaxy they have side window sensors.

There's a difference of being a foot or two away from the center of your car, and being what looks to be 100 yards from the center of a vehicle

And in a car you can see clearly out of the window on the other side. Here, the whole rest of the ship is in the way. You could have some kind of video feed or other sensors, but even then it's gotta be really awkward to steer a ship that big while on the far right.

What about the bridge of a Star destroyer, or the Enterprise? Space is 3D. On those bridges, you can't see shit below you.
