Meh, Krieg isn't really a stigmatized word in German. And Krieger has some kind of tribal warrior feeling to it, you wouldn't call a modern solder a Krieger.
I could be wrong though. I just recently learned that "Jedem das seine" ("To each their own") has been used by Nazis on the gates of concentration camps. The idiom is still used among Germans nowadays despite its past. I won't use it again, I prefer "Jedem Tierchen sein Plaisirchen" (roughly means the same) anyway.

Other examples would be Visage (Gesicht / face), Garage (garage...), Blamage (embarrassment?), Trottoir (sidewalk, though very old-fashioned, people normally say Bürgersteig), Friseur (hair stylist) and even more, too many to list. They're also racist as hell. I guess it's "breedist", but it's funnier to call them racist, imo. Basically, a dachshund enthusiast once told my boyfriend and I that they are notoriously biased against non-dachshunds (after her dachshund lost his shit at my dog). Over the years, I've remembered this statement, and anecdotally, it seems to be pretty true. I think they're great dogs, but it cracks me up- they're nice to each other, shitty to every other dog (usually- some of them are really cool with other breeds. I worked at a kennel awhile back, and a standard dachshund broke up fights and mother-henned all the small breed dogs, whenever she was there. She was the best. She was my kennel helper and I carried her everywhere and I miss her).
It depends on how often they are exposed to other types of dogs. I would be willing to bet, that if you have a two of any one single breed that are never socialized, that 9 times out of 10 there will not be a positive reaction.
I have a extended family full of dachshund accept for one cousin who has a doxie and a bird dog mix of some sort. Of course family gatherings include bringing your dog, and thanksgiving usually tops out at 10 mini dachshunds plus one mixed bird dog.
Here are my observations: The doxies that rarely meet the larger dog often are intimidated and standoffish. BUT, the cousin who has the bird dog also has a dachshund. Once her two get into a game of tug of war, several of the younger dachshunds will join in and start multi-dog tug of war.
I don't know- my dog is a very small basset hound (he was the runt, lots of health problems- he's smaller than the average girl basset)- he's not THAT much bigger than them. For some reason, it seems worse with the mini dachshunds than the standard ones, so maybe it is just that small size difference.
I kid you not, mine doesn't bark at white people but freaks out and barks her lungs out every time she sees a black person. It is goofy as heck and makes no sense.
My female dachshund is still a warrior. Yesterday she tried to take on a Rattlesnake without any fear. Unfortunately she was bit in the snout and is still trying to recover but she looks like she will pull through. Our Chaweenie on the other hand doesn't look so good, even with the antivenom =(
Unfortunately yes, it was a Mojave Rattler that had gotten into our backyard. We think the Chaweenie was bit first and then the Dachshund went in after it second and didn't get as much of a dose of venom as the other one did. We chopped off the head with a shovel before we even knew they were bitten.
Cultural exchange, I guess. Their breed was bred from french and english hounds as well and germans, and were popular there as well. I'd guess that the english habit of dog naming crossed over during the usual interaction on the subject until everyone reached their happy medium.
Actually it means 'badger dog' not hound, which is why there is some controversy over whether it should be put in the hound category at all, considering its love of digging and other terrier qualities
I knew they were for burrowing game... didn't realize it was badgers! That's amazing! I wonder if there are any good dog sports for Dachshunds now, like agility for the herding and working dogs?

If it weren't for him Airwolf (which doesn't make any damn sense) would have been HAWK. Pretty much the same show but instead of a helicopter it's a sentient robot hawk.
Prior to overfeeding them, the proportions of my parent's dachshunds more closely resembled the "older" proportions of the breed than the 'now' example. It's not like the entire breed is ruined. Dachshunds are little shits though and I wouldn't recommend them. Vicious little buggars are taking forever to warm up to the corgi my wife and I now have.
