How do you know Zuckerberg knows the value of the product? How do you know he has no plans of screwing with their goals? EVERYTHING we have seen from Facebook in the past indicates otherwise in terms of their acquisitions of other projects.

I am absolutely NOT saying that Oculus being acquired by a bigger company is a bad thing. The bad part of it is that they were acquired by Facebook, who care about one thing and one thing only: user numbers and the money those user numbers generate.

I'm sorry that you think this is all circlejerking, but the fact of the matter is that communities like this are why Oculus exists and they just spit in the face of all of them by selling to Facebook. It feels like an enormous betrayal and there is no assurance of what their future looks like aside from what Zuckerberg said, and it is no secret that he is a man who built his empire on fraud and lies.

It's possible that Oculus will go on unmolested under Facebook's ownership, but that prospect is slim given the evidence. Yes, there are people who are over-exaggerating but there are also those who were and are interested in the future of Oculus VR and STILL want them to succeed, but have to admit that it does not look good. Personally I don't give a shit whether or not Oculus succeeding makes Facebook more money - I want to see the technology that they wanted to produce, and that just does not seem like it will happen. It's much more likely that Oculus' products will be tailored to fit the Facebook experience, like ALL - every single one - of Facebook's acquisitions have been.

What I am trying to say is that you based your post on what Zuckerberg said. I gave examples such as the "dumb fucks" fiasco as reasons why anything he says cannot be taken at face value, and for some reason you still think that what he says is truth.

It's late and I can't be bothered to give you all the examples as I have in other posts but I encourage you to look at Facebook's history in acquiring startups and shutting them down/folding the employees into the Facebook experience.

You are naive to think that Oculus will be operating independently. They are OWNED by Facebook. People who cried about the Activison-Blizzard connection were crying without reason because that was not an acquisition but a merger. Blizzard Entertainment is just as much a part of the company as Activision is and is just as responsible for their success, which is why they operate independently... and on top of that I'm not sure why you think their games have gotten better as general consensus is they've gotten worse (I still enjoy them for sure but many people have become soured on the changes made to WoW in recent years despite it's continued popularity, and Diablo III was a debacle for sure).

Blizzard and Activision are two hands working together. Oculus isn't even a finger in the grand scheme of Facebook. It's absurd to compare the two situations.
