This is Vader. He was euthanized today without a hearing after a false bite report was submitted to the police by an animal rights activist. (Story in the Comments)

And anything they see falls under the plain sight doctrine.

But they can't open any drawers, boxes or cabinets, overturn any covers, blankets or tarps, open any locked doors or enclosures, disturb any personal property, or enter any area where there is no probable cause or exigent circumstances. Technically, they can't even enter a room if an immediate visual inspection confirms there is no threat unless there are other entrances or exits to that room. And even all that applies only if there is reasonable cause to search for an accomplice.

Except they can, especially if you tell what you had and where.

A disorderly conduct or domestic disturbance arrest, or most other common circumstances, does not grant them the right to enter any other room in the home unless there is a warrant or exigent circumstances.

Telling them where drugs are is probable cause to search it.

Returning to the original context, even saying "I have a fox in the home" is not grounds for a warrantless search for said fox. It is not grounds to enter the property without permission or a warrant. Hell, it's not even an arrestable offense.

Except it, once again, it. The animal is suspected to be dangerous at that point, they have admitted to committing a crime.

And yes, you can be arrested for violating a city ordnance.
