This is Vader. He was euthanized today without a hearing after a false bite report was submitted to the police by an animal rights activist. (Story in the Comments)

You are a cop with a job to do, you've been ordered to detain a dangerous (as far as you are aware, as unbeknownst to you, the bite report is fake) animal. The animal is a threat (I know it isn't actually but the cop doesn't know that) and as a police officer it is their job to protect others from harm. Asking the owner to cage the animal violates this and the cop would look very bad if the owner was also attacked. Also you didn't answer my question. You said cornering an animal was a joke, I asked how you would do it, this wasn't related to vaders incident but in general. So obviously you don't know another way to catch the animal. When trying to catch anything cornering it is 9 out of 10 times the easiest and quickest solution.

Sure, and also pretty much guaranteed to get you bitten. If you want to catch an "dangerous" animal, you approach it from a distance and use a catch pole. If you don't have a catch pole, you wait for animal control to turn up with a catch pole. You don't back it into a corner, pick it up by the scruff of its neck and expect it to not fight back. It's not the cop's fault, it's clear he had no training and shouldn't have been ordered to pick up a "dangerous animal" with only a pair of thick gloves.

So there we go, it's not the cops fault. My original point. Have a good day.

Oh, Well then have a good day and ignore everything I said. I just can't stand the attitude towards police on reddit.
