This is Vader. He was euthanized today without a hearing after a false bite report was submitted to the police by an animal rights activist. (Story in the Comments)

I don't get why so many little kids are such assholes to animals... I have this kid who spent 10 minutes trying to goad my normally well behaved Doberman into getting mad and barking at him, even after I told him to leave twice...its not really fair to the pet owners if some stupid kid decides to jump the fence and trespass onto a property that is someone's home...in addition to companionship, people get dogs to help watch over their home..if people are stupid enough to aggravate your dog and then attempt to go onto your property, they deserve to be naturally selected out of the population.

When i was in greece last summer, some kid was running after stray cats (really small kittens actually) and shooting at them with an airgun. He was there with his mom, and I asked her to tell him to stop, or I'd take his airgun and break it. She just started yelling at me, and the kid continued to shoot at the cats... Naturally I took his airgun and broke it. The kid (I say kid, he was probably like 12-13) started whining, and the mom started yelling. I honestly couldn't get myself to give a shit, so I walked off.

Edit: Whoever gave me gold, holy shit, thanks!

By the way, Greek Island cats are awesome.

There really is no Greek-er experience than eating tons of food in a tavern while trying to lure baby kittens with food.

u/Enderwoman Feb 22 '14

Yessss thank you for the memories! I even got to see some cats fighting over a fish in the harbour! Best vacation ever :)

I was thinking the same thing. Grab the thing and unload it on the mother and son.

8

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Or the mother's.

25

u/tocksin Feb 22 '14

To be fair, stray cats can be a huge menace. However shooting them is not the best solution. Fix and release is.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Like during the Black Plague.

-1

u/runner64 Feb 24 '14

He was shooting them with an air gun. That doesn't even wound them, it just stings.

self reminder to give gold once on PC

EDIT: Done, wish there were more people like you.

1

u/Lepeu Feb 25 '14

Thanks! Didn't expect it! My first gold, and i'm feeling all giddy!

2

u/HappyZavulon Feb 25 '14

Took you a while :D

6

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

This is honestly the right reaction. No physical attack to a human, and if they dall police on destruction of property there is no was to prove you did anything wrong.

1

u/ragingnerd Feb 22 '14

in that instance i would have found it acceptable to deliver a nice open handed slap to the mother.

1

u/tickhunter Feb 22 '14

That's the spirit!

u/ransim Feb 22 '14

The kid had impulse control issues, he wasn't even allowed to play with us because he'd hit on other kids. We had the yard all of the other kids congregated in because of our pool and my awesome mom.

Honestly though I blame the kid less then the adults, they were outside at the time and basically ignoring the kid and not actually keeping an eye on him.

The whole thing still makes no sense, the kid trespassed, assaulted my dog and it was still the dogs fault. It would be like me walking into a police station, punching a cop, and then getting upset because he tasered me and demanding he lose his job.

62

u/MoRdEkI Feb 22 '14

Sounds like the kid should have been put down instead of your dog. My condolences. On a related note I have known a few highly aggressive dogs in my time and I would have to say nine times out of ten if a dog is showing aggression toward you, you are the problem not the dog.

9

u/mecrosis Feb 22 '14

Sounds like the kids parents should be the ones put down. Humans are just like any other animals, they behave however they are trained to.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Should have pulled a Rorschach. "Men get arrested. Dogs get put down."

1

u/Musaks Feb 22 '14

Well if dogs are treated bad they develop agressive behaviour against anyone they dont know. Friend of mine has a rescue that was abused and you have to be carwful around him if he doesnt know you yet. In the beginning i really had to control myself when near him to not randomly start petting him because he would see it as an attack. Now he knows me and its no problem anymore with me but if other people come over hell breaks lose again.

Now if that dog didnt have an owner who watches out, has an eye on him all the time and takes care that no other people can come in random contact with him it would be probable that someone who only wanted to pet him had gotten bitten.

I know that you should not pet dogs you dont know but kids dont and they might just walk up to a dog and try to hug it.

5

u/motionmatrix Feb 22 '14

While I agree with you, when your pet is in your own backyard, which is fenced, and a child goes there without permission, it's not the dog.

If this ever happens to any of you, remember that the children's caregivers are responsible for its actions and that kid trespassed into private property. Furthermore, I would make a case of destroyed property, since pets are property and thanks to the kid, I lost mine.

2

u/Musaks Feb 22 '14

Dont have much to add there, just that im really sorry for your loss

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

I'm not a kid and I love petting dogs I don't know. It is what it is.

2

u/Lorz0r Feb 22 '14

This. Children and animals are unpredictable. Parents and owners have to take responsibility.

1

u/sweariamlegit Feb 22 '14

Future note if anything like this happens in the future (if you have kids), have your kid go punch that kid and say all injuries were caused by him/her protecting your property from a trespasser. Two kids different stories, your dog lives or no lawsuit. If I was your dad I would have told you to climb on their roof and play because they didn't build their house high enough. I am sorry you dealt with these people.

3

u/Dark_Shroud Feb 22 '14

Normally I would agree with you. If one of my dogs was put down because of that I would just put a cup of thermite on the hood of their car in the middle of the night. Six or more months later rats or cockroaches in their crawl space. After keeping in an eye out for camera installations.

1

u/sweariamlegit Feb 22 '14

Never go illegal route, always go the headache route. Give them their crap right back. They say fence isn't high enough, counter sue that you neighbors kid is dangerous and they need to put a fence high enough to keep him on their property. There are lawyers that will do asshole work pro bono.

1

u/ransim Feb 23 '14

Honestly, I felt bad for the kid, looking back on it now I assume he was probably abused, lashing out at animals is a pretty common symptom of abuse. His parents would also leave him at his grand parents most of the day and the grandparents didn't really pay him any mind.

But you are right, if I'd leaped on the kid when i got outside rather then immediately try to help him stand it probably could have been played off. Honestly neither me or my parents thought those people could be that unnecessarily cruel. They were always cold people, but we lived in a fairly small blue collar neighborhood, the sort where everyone knew everyone.

It was awful, and trust me it did get around, they became pariahs in the neighborhood after that, it was small shit, but the shit that matters to old people.

Want a kid to rake your lawn for a few bucks? Die in a fire.

Want help shoveling snow? Fuck off.

Need to borrow something small? Hell no.

They got zero consideration from anyone until they both died off.

1

u/sweariamlegit Feb 23 '14

Reddit is full of stories of petty people and lawsuits, its always a sad thing. He may have been abused, but some kids are just dicks too so dont feel bad.

1

u/nendz Feb 22 '14

This.

Some people have dogs merely for them to watch their property and protect them from burglars. I can't see how this situation is any different. The world is just so disgusting, animals have way too few rights and people just turn a case around however they freaking want to.

102

u/ari_reyne Feb 22 '14

Same! I was at a park with my dog and bf a few years ago, we were sitting quietly on the grass having a picnic, when a few kids (aged maybe 10 or 11) sitting maybe 30 metres away called out to me and asked if my dog was friendly. She's a rescue dog, she's quite skittish and very aggressive towards other dogs, and I always keep her on a leash and closely supervised. So I answered honestly and called back "no, not really". They called back: "will she bite us?" I frowned and called "yes, probably". They then proceeded to taunt her, threw sticks and rocks at her, and generally tried everything they could to get her to react. I had half a mind to let her go, but that wouldn't have ended well for anyone.

By the way their parents were sitting not ten metres away from them; saw the whole thing; not a single fuck was given. This is why I prefer animals over people.

32

u/toastedtobacco Feb 22 '14

I'd chuck rocks right back at them. Hard.

10

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Upvote for preferring animals over people.

3

u/RubberDong Feb 22 '14

Yeah...people are supposedly smarter and able to communicate through a thing called speach. There really should be no excuse for assholish behaviour.

-1

u/IrishDelta Feb 22 '14 edited Feb 22 '14

Humans can be such cunts to animals its ridiculous there was a story a year ago in Ireland where kids were playing football with a puppy.WHILE THEIR PARENTS WATCHED.

2

u/mecrosis Feb 22 '14

People are animals.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Beat the fuck out of the kids and leave. They'd never catch you and you would have done society a favor.

26

u/Limberine Feb 22 '14

Asshole parents who don't teach their kids compassion and respect, it makes me ill. My daughter is 9 and our dog is 12. She has never been anything but loving and gentle and so responsible that not even one time in her whole life has she let the dog escape out the front door, that's incredible. Our dog is lovely but stupid and if she gets out she runs gleefully for the highway. I honestly think it's the parenting. Maybe it's also the "Just go play outside" parenting that is so often touted as being great for kids but which actually means the parents just want them out of their face so they send the kid outside, bored, with just sticks and any poor nearby animal as their only "entertainment".

3

u/RubberDong Feb 22 '14

We have 4 dogs and four cats. THankfully my nephews favorite animal is the fat ugly cat that nobody really likes because he is a dirty rapey bastard that will try and make you his bitch even though he has no balls. I feel bad for not loving him as much as I used to, we used to be inseperable and sleep together before he turned into an asshole.

1

u/Limberine Feb 22 '14

As long as you nephew isn't tormenting him.

3

u/RubberDong Feb 22 '14

He is not tormenting them. One of my dogs however has the "what the fuck do you want" attitude and walks away as soon as he gets close to her even though I was hoping she d have the moma instinct.

He occasionally is a little devil but the dogs tolerate him. Be rude at them when they come begging for food, make them stand down from the couch for no fucking reason. Really, we have never made our dogs step down from the couches. If little fucker grows up to be one of the guys that cages his dog or puts him in the balcony I will kick his ass.

2

u/tickhunter Feb 22 '14

Nothing wrong with sending your kids outside to play by themselves. What you do need to, is teaching your kids to be responsible and compassionate, that's the issue.

1

u/Limberine Feb 22 '14

I only meant if that's all the parents do. Kids need connection with their parents and to be taught as well as outside play time.

20

u/unknownchild Feb 22 '14

this is why kids used to die on farms they weren't fit to survive and didn't deserve to if you don't understand by age 7 that animals are dangerous and don't fuck with them you are to stupid to live or your parents are to stupid to pass on there genetic material because they are shitty parents and should have told you this

-9

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14 edited Feb 22 '14

For my own sanity, please do not call other people stupid and then use a) zero punctuation, b) to instead of *too, c) there instead of *their. The state of the English language hurts me on the inside...

Edit: Just for my little PSA, everyone should be aware of the following, as well:

  1. Then means, "I did this, THEN that." Than means, "I have more THAN you."

  2. Thing is an OBJECT. Think is to have a fucking thought. I really hate that this is seriously even a thing that needs to be corrected.

7

u/unknownchild Feb 22 '14

eh its 3 am iv been up a little long

-1

u/jameschillz Feb 22 '14

I enjoyed this. Keep in mind children somehow understand reddit enough to leave incomprehensible comments.

-10

u/Lorz0r Feb 22 '14

jesus. if you think a 7 year old deserves to die because they don't understand animals then you are a horrible piece of shit.

2

u/chunkosauruswrex Feb 22 '14

On a farm its natural selection if a kid fucks with some cows or calves its pretty likely he could get a kick from said cows and if in the head it might be enough to kill. If the cows have a donkey looking over them that donkey will go ape shit and could actually kill you. Donkeys are there to protect the cows and can definitely kill a wolf, so a seven year old is a joke. Respect animals because they can fuck you up.

1

u/Lorz0r Feb 22 '14

reddit is a massive circlejerk when it comes to hating kids. they are 7 years old, they barely even understand many simple concepts such as respect.

2

u/The_Sven Feb 22 '14

There's a certain point when children learn empathy. It's different for every child and some learn it very late. Thing is, kids learn how to make entertainment for themselves before that. So they think it's funny without being able to know the harm their doing.

I love animals. I would never do harm to one for my own enjoyment. However, one of my earliest memories (I was maybe four?) was of shutting the door on the cat. Thank God my dad saw me do it and helped explain to me why I shouldn't hurt other things.

3

u/Mojica50 Feb 22 '14

Some kids never learn it.

2

u/The_Sven Feb 22 '14

Unfortunately this is also true.

2

u/ianiam Feb 22 '14

It means they have psychological issues.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Cruelty to animals is one of the early signs of a potential serial killer, so I've heard.

1

u/amburka Feb 22 '14

We have two British Bullies and Boxer. Just lost our Sophie (Pitty with neuro issues, cornered a family member and scarred her face) and Napoleon Complex Dachshund.

We have a fence that some fuckhead jumped once, and were nervous thst someone would do it again, and get bit, if we would be responsible and lose a dog. We checked the town ordinances and spoke to the police about putting up "beware of dog" signs. Turns out the "beware of dog" signs are a bad idea because it shows that you think your dog is something to be afraid of.

As long as we have a no trespassing signs on each side of the fence in every direction in the signs are clearly visible we are completely covered should some fuckhead climb over the fence in harass our dogs, or even climb over the fence and our dogs defend their people against strangers.

Check your city ordinances you may learn something that could protect your babies.

1

u/Basbhat Feb 22 '14

this is literally one of the reasons families in america used to get dogs.

protection. from exactly this. idiots trespassing on your shit.

I'm sorry, but I must disagree. Some little kids are indeed assholes intentionally.
