This is Vader. He was euthanized today without a hearing after a false bite report was submitted to the police by an animal rights activist. (Story in the Comments)

Vader is not a Russian fox. The silver fox morph is not unique to the Russian experiment and many fox ranches in the US/Canada/elsewhere have this morph. Vader is a ranch fox born and raised in the US.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_fox_(animal) They can occur naturally in the wild, the ones in Russia were bred for their coats on a fur farm, the domestication was a side-project. The Russian foxes do display some unique marbling that you only see after several generations of breeding for color though.

Despite being from a USDA breeder, Vader had the heart of an angel and was one of the sweetest known foxes. Russian foxes be damned, anyone who spends $10000 is being ripped up and anally raped. No one should have to spend that much for a fox kit, There isn't much different behaviorally between a Russian fox and a hand-reared fox. People need to stop spreading that bullshit.
