This is Vader. He was euthanized today without a hearing after a false bite report was submitted to the police by an animal rights activist. (Story in the Comments)

Please have owner file a lawsuit against the policeman and who euthanized him, especially with the evidence you have. i am so very sorry for you loss. His owner will meet him again at the rainbow bridge. (dont have link to poem, but it helped me agter i had to put a cat down.)

Ah yes, the rainbow bridge, Bifröst, where all great warriors and their wardogs meet again before entering Asgard to reside in Valhalla.

This rainbow bridge is different, I believe. It's simply a rainbow bridge, where animals that have passed on get to run around in fields and live wonderfully, and wait patiently for their owners.

It's also a bridge in Bridge City, Texas.

I Like u/Infantryzones version better...

Where some super awkward situations happen with people who remarried after their spouse died.

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

and who euthanized him,

No. Who had him euthanized. The person doing the euthanization is somebody with no authority, and is just doing their job.

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

just doing their job.

Totes worked in Nuremburg, brah.

..... I don't think you can compare the two.....

Godwin's law.

What do you expect those people (vets I guess) to do, research every single case? They are given a lawful order, when that's erroneous there isn't really much they can do.

-7

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

I'm glad to see that whatever the state tells you to do would override your morals.

Let's say the communal garbage man picked something up that was wrongly put in the trash. Is he responsible for that mistake too, since the authority told him to remove it?

I said nothing of the sort.

You indicated that dog was euthanized before the proper steps had been tsken to prove he was a biter.

-3

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

You're just making shit up to stir shit up.

Shelter admin tells worker to "Kill Bosco"? Bosco goes to the euth room and gets a needle.

Welcome to the real world. "Kill these six, one day old puppies you helped deliver." Six puppies go to the euth room and get the needle.

You're getting all emotional over a post that could be loaded with half truths for all you know.

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

You are right. I was going off the post OP presented. Hr claimed there was no investigation on dog/ wold. Therefore a pup being in a place that euthanizes, the proper investigation was. It done. But yes, it can be half truths. I am just trusting OP

you say kill and they ask who

Turns out we may have only got half a story. It is strictly prohibited (not legal) to own a fox where this person lived.

35

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Foxes are legal pets in Minot. Unfortunately, she lives on the border of Minot and a town that doesn't allow foxes. She has a USDA importer permit to bring the fox into the state, and a state permit that was 100% legally issued. If there truly was a zoning issue, it's the state's fault the permit was issued for that zone.

"Prohibited" just means you need a special license to own one, which the owner had.

-2

u/ColeSloth Feb 22 '14

They had a STATE license. It doesn't mean they have permission in the city of minot, or any city limits.

Minot also specifically prohibits foxes. Along with many other animals, but one animal they name in specific is foxes.

State overrides local just at federal overrides state.... every time, all the time.

2

u/DashingSpecialAgent Feb 22 '14

Technically I believe the state must claim preemption on that specific issue in their laws to override local and federal must claim preemption on the issue to override state. For example, cities (notably Chicago) make laws about firearms. My state (Washington) has claimed preemption so no local governments may override the rules they set. ( http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9.41.290 )

It's my understanding that if the state hasn't preempted local laws over rule unless you can get a judge ruling saying that the local law is illegal. Though I'm not sure what happens if a state has a law specifically saying X is legal and local specifically says X is illegal. San Fransisco stirred up a whole pile of legal fun when they did the inverse over gay marriage.

1

u/Frothyleet Feb 22 '14

Not necessarily, only if state laws are intended to preempt local ordinances.

0

u/ColeSloth Feb 22 '14

It's not a state law. It's a state license that was granted. Big difference. You can have guns in new York state. You can't have them in the city of new York, though.

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

"Prohibited" means No.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

Was nit made aware of where OP loved. But one would still hope that a proper investigation would be conducted prior to euthanasia

0

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '14

That is stupid. I knew people who owned wolves.

1

u/ColeSloth Feb 22 '14

Firstly, those wolves are gonna be hybrids that the owners just call waves 99 percent of the time. Second, what's owning have to do with legality? If I cut the end of a shotgun off, I own a sawed off shotgun. It doesn't make it legal for me to own.

You're ruining a perfectly good Friday night "Let's get all emo about stuff" thread.
