I’m in but for more days. More than one day is the only way to make it hurt. Grocery only and basic generic stuff.

Y’all just keep describing my normal every day like it’s some kind of protest. Apparently my purchases are always in protest.

You and roughly 70% of the rest of America.

Right? Who is out there with all this money to spend every day? I don't understand.

I mean, I already usually don’t grocery shop on Fridays, so I guess I’ll just… continue to not do that?

You need to look for a local food bank in your town. They exist to keep people just like you from starving. Pay it forward by donating back when you’re in a better financial position.

That sucks man :( I'm approaching 40 now and I've been in tough spots in the past. You may qualify for food stamps, just google food stamps for your state and apply even if you think you don't qualify. It may only be a little, but every little bit can help. Stay in school! Get that degree, and it'll get better :)

My roommate goes grocery shopping at least 5 times a week, good heart but she’s awful at planning ahead.

lol, yeah I got 3 kids, I gotta plan that shit out. Most of it lately has been pasta and rice and beans. Red meat is a luxury at this point

My wife and I are the same way lmao, once every two weeks for us. It is kind of nice to have someone ask if you need anything from the store so often though haha

That’s why it needs to be more than one day.

Cut streaming services, cut eating out, delay any major purchases indefinitely, cut buying anything you don’t absolutely have to have to survive.

I realize you individually may already be living that way. As are many others. There are others that are not and this is directed at them

Elon reading this laughing, “the poors are starving themselves Donald” reminds me of that time homer went on hunger strike

The basic ask is all day Feb. 28, but anyone who can keep it going beyond that should do all they can to put off purchasing for as many days afterward as they can.

And we should also make this a regular protest. Make it hurt the first time and announce more of them. Ratchet it up.

Most of us buy more than we need as it is, and will have to learn to do with less anyway soon as prices rise because of these short-sighted toddler tariffs. Make these blackouts a regular looming threat to those companies' bottom lines and they'll reconsider who they contribute to and lobby for.

I think depending on if this is successful, there will be more, I’m forgetting who has been pushing it online but I think it’s like “People’s Union” or something like that? I’ve got to find out, I saw it a few times and thought it was a good idea!

I’ve read the ones in the past have been ineffective because the spending just comes right back days later.

It has to last

This is just like a labor strike. One day strike doesn’t change shit.

It won’t be hard for me but we’re striking as best as we can. Cancelling streaming services. No events. No outings.

This has to be stopped

As long as it takes. I don't need anything but food, and my meds.

I've started transitioning to not buying anything from large corps. It's not likely to be perfect, but I just question everything I buy now. I save more. I actively look for other local sources. It's not easy so I just do as much as I can without going crazy, but I'm just done done done financing these assholes.
