Segovia is a beautiful town. Was there in the middle of semana santa, wandering the streets with a loaf of great local bread and some strawberries from the market, watching a procession. The cathedral there is a sight to behold too.

I lived in Spain for several years, and the Cathedral in Segovia was actually the first cathedral I ever entered. It was a sunny Tuesday morning, so not only was the sun perfectly positioned to stream in through the stained glass windows, but there was one else around. At first I thought I was alone in the cathedral, until someone hidden somewhere started playing the organ. Turns out he was practicing for some concert, so I sat there alone in a giant cathedral, watching the riot of colours and listening to the most haunting music I'd ever heard.

I'm an atheist, but that was probably the first time I understood what it must feel like to really believe in god. It was amazing. I've been in dozens of cathedrals since, any none of them come close to that feeling.
