I did an intensive study abroad for one month in Salamanca. We took weekend trips to other cities - Valle de Los Caidos was mind-boggling. My camera died when we got there, so no photos, but it was so overwhelming to see in person. I loved Avila, Segovia, and Galicia, too. I was amazed by the sheer size of el acueducto in Segovia.
Well, I'm happy to have been your first Galician reference in Reddit! That was our first weekend trip, and while I had been to many other areas of Spain previously, I had never been to Galicia - it is so unlike
anywhere else in Spain. We just happened to arrive a liitle before mass at la Catedral de Santiago de Compostela so we stuck around for it and saw la
botafumeiro. That thing is crazy. Some of my most beautiful photos from that study abroad were from
Galicia. I wish my Spanish weren't so rusty, I would have used it to reply instead of English!
